I need a motherboard to house my system:

Intel C2D E8400 w. Noctua P12
OCZ DDR3 1600 7-7-7-24 @1.9v (2x2gb)
EVGA 8800gts (g92) w. HR-03gt <-- step-up card, placeholder for 280.

Powered by the Zalman 1000w PSU.

Loved the idea of the 790i and bought the EVGA version. Complete fail, if you get a bad one like i did, it's a neverending headache.

Made me realize one thing though - my main prio lies in stability.

Now all i want is a platform to run my system at a stable fsb:400 OC linked with memory. SLI/Crossfire - forget it, i game on a CRT anyways, not like i need über res - a single ultra would be supreme, but the g92 gts is a good enough step-up placeholder.

So - rock solid 24/7 1600:1600 stable mb - which one should i get and of which brand? ^^

Should also note i'm willing and quite likely to replace the stock cooling of the mb.

assuming you want to keep your DDR3 memory, your only choices are a P35 or X38/48 motherboard. if i was in your boat, the Asus P5K3 Deluxe would be my first choice. you won't feel like you're settling for second best with a nice mobo like that.
