How can they patent something like that when the technology has been on cheap calculators for over a decade?

This one is almost old. Ansmann, battery and charger vendor already offers portable solar cell battery and cell phone charger. It's not exactly the same but very very close.

mobile phones are meant to be kept in the pockets ... and not to be flashed to everyone for sake of charging battery ...

it's gonna be real dorky if u imagine everyone walking on streets start taking out their phones and sun bathing them on midday

so run a small wire from the charging panel to the phone's charging port.

More meant that you put your phone down on the table or on a desk near a window?

This is exactly what I just thought.

How is this going to work when people keep their phones in their pockets?

just a noob

Mine isn't in the pocket, it is on a belt holster. Too much other crap goes in my pockets that the phone would get banged up, plus sometimes trying to get to it when I'm sitting down is a bit annoying. Holster it is right there.

The last time I checked solar cell werent really all that efficient. Then again, it has been a while since I last checked and I'm assuming it is just to make the battery life just a little longer.

the solar power required to power a note book, frack even a phone is too much for any handheld.

if i recall they have tried before and it failed.

let them try it wont ever work.

IMO they'd probably have better luck looking into materials that create electricity when they move and flex, and then working them into clothing. Imagine pants and shirts that power your phone or iPod while you walk.

Apple produces nothing these days but overpriced crap. I h8 them. Seriously apple is for tards who can't use more than one finger at once when navigating there sh1tty os with a single click mouse. (No offense) (they do have good mp3 players, but it still sucks how everybody copies them, can't these companies come up with an original design?)

maybe replace the accelerometer with a larger one that has the power to put even 2.5-1.5mA/min of power when the phone shakes and moves?

Since you carry them around all the time and move often it should be sure as heck more effective than solar no matter how small the current is.
