And since the Polls (http://www.squeep.com/~janglur/pcs/poll.html) pretty much show that people think my CPU needs upgrading.. I shall now overclock this CPU to kingdom come!

Every day, i'll increase the speed by around 66 MHz (or the smallest interval it will take), until I reach a max.

The CPU is a 900 MHz AMD Tbird. Family 6/7, 4/4, 2/2

Original specs:
900 MHz (core)
133 MHz (bus)
266 MHz (memory)

Current speed (as of 9-12-03):

1469.99 MHz (core)
133.64 MHz (System Bus)
267.27 MHz (Memory)

Total Overclock: 38.78%

Temperatures:

CPU: 55C/131F (Onboard Diode)
CPU: 52C/125F (Musketeer probe)
Motherboard: 34C/93F
Ambient: 30C/86F

Tested with:
Multiple Hours running F@H at 100%, uninterrupted.

Mods:
TR-2 M2 CPU Heatsink w/Ceramique thermal grease.
1.85v CPU (Default is 1.75v)

Anyone know if i'm within safe temp. ranges?

Finally came to a wall with my OCing the multiplier.
Any suggestions?

I've started on the FSB meantime, since it can push the core up just a bit higher, which is what counts.

Current status:

Original specs:
900 MHz (core)
133 MHz (bus)
266 MHz (memory)

Current speed (as of 9-14-03):

1492.37 MHz (core)
135.67 MHz (System Bus)
271.40 MHz (Memory)

Total Core Overclock: 39.70%
Total BUS Overclock: 1.97%
Total Memory Overclock: 1.99%

Temperatures:

CPU: 56C/132F (Onboard Diode)
CPU: 53C/127F (Musketeer probe)
Motherboard: 36C/96F
Ambient: 34C/93F

Tested with:
Multiple Hours running F@H at 100%, uninterrupted.

Mods:
TR-2 M2 CPU Heatsink w/Ceramique thermal grease.
1.85v CPU (Default is 1.75v)

Troubles:
At x10.5 (1400 MHz) OC, system failed to boot. Increased voltage to 1.775v. Worked. Slight heat increase noticed.
At x11 (1466 MHz) OC, system failed to boot. Increased voltage to 1.85v. Worked. Drastic heat increase notice. Presumed the result of voltage increase.
At x11 (1466 MHz) OC, system experienced occassional instability. Increased memory timing from 5-2-2-2T to 4-2-2-2T. Worked.
At x11.5 (1533 MHz) OC, system refused to boot. No known remedy.
At +1 MHz FSB (Making 1474 MHz), boot worked fine.
At +2 MHz FSB (making 1492 MHz), boot failed. Decreased memory latency from 4-2-2-2T to 3-2-2-2T.

Nice overclock.

What kind of cooling are you using ?

A TMD fan and heatsink. TR-2 M2.
Nothing fancy. Cost me $20.

Now that you know your CPU max, start working on upping the FSB to maximize the system overall performance...

S'what i'm doing as we speak. =3

Only one sign of instability so far. A F@H WU got discarded at 350/500 for no apparent reason. 623. Then I got assigned 621.
Dunno if it got malformed or what, but...
Nothing else suspicious.

Looks like that's it. Can't get it any higher anymore.
