Picture styles (http://www.canon.co.jp/imaging/picturestyle/index.html) (not sure what the Nikon equvalent is) are amazing. Really give my pictures some punch. Just discovered them, apparently only DDP (for Canon) has it... it may sound sorta gimmicky, but I like 'em.

Example:

Here is a picture with a "Standard" picture style.

And with the "Landscape" picture style.

As you can see, the one with the "Landscape" picture style looks "poppier" and catches your eye more.

Just like WB, you should definitely be using the correct picture style for the scene.

Yeah, I couldn't believe I hadn't found out about this feature earlier!

Thats just an increase of saturation. You can achieve that in photoshop in 5 seconds, or indeed, get it out of the camera that way.

yup. If you shoot in RAW like I have been lately, its pretty simple to take care of in photoshop or CaputreNX (Nikons editing software fore RAW files).

Personally I just leave the camera in the Neutral color control selection so that it doesnt throw the colors totaly out of wack. That way I can fine tune it the way I want in post processing.

I don't have PS, so I'm pretty much stuck with what Canon gave me.
