Do u use OpenGL or D3d in Half Life? Plz list what card u have.. and why u use what u do..

I'm still trying to the difference between the two. Which gives better performance (or quality) for HL? What about for Other games??

800x600 opengl. If you want to awp use 640x480 so the scope doesnt take up as much of the screen.

Using a gf3 ti200.

open gl, direct3d makes it seem more...choppy for some reason, even though frame rates stay the same

D3d, just because, and I'm currently on a TNT2 until I get my new mobo.

Ok something is terribly wrong. My CS works fine now, but I have a feeling I turned on or off some really important setting when I was trying to tweak my 9800Pro.

I run CS at 1024x768 in OpenGL. I cant even run it with 4xAA and 8xAF without my fps dropping to 30 when ppl come onto my screen when Im playing. What is going on?! I thought I could AT LEAST run this game at 1024x768 with 6xAA and 16xAF and get a steady 100 fps. I mean come on.. were talking about the HL engine here, lol.

COULD ONE OF U KIND MEN WITH A 9800 PLEASE SHOW ME WUT YOUR OPENGL AND D3D TABS LOOK LIKE IN YOUR VID CARD PROPERTIES PLEASE?!?!

800x600x32 OpenGL on GF3 using the CSRU 4.1 high-poly model pack.

Do you have "max_fps 100" in your CS config?

I hear people complain about smoke nades but I've never had them slow my framerate. Makes so I can use them to smoke AND lag the enemy to cover my rush! :D

OpenGL here too. Never really tried Direct3d on my desktop, I use it on my laptop because the video card doesn't support openGL

if you know your gfx card should be pumping out 100fps throught the game and its not, add this command to your shortcut line

-32bpp

all should be fixed

Radeon 9700 Pro / Tbred 2400+

OpenGL 1024x768x32, 4AF tri, VSync off (less tearing)

works fine, 99-100 fps constantly

1600x1200 OGL, radeon9800 100fps

I know im a freak for using 1600x1200 but I seem to kill more like that....
