edit: looks like they'll be too hot/heavy/pricey/power-hungry etc etc for me :doh:

I'd expect it to be a $1100 cpu, so yes very pricey. Heat will be high enough that this won't go in anything but the highest end DTR notebooks.
Maybe you'll be looking at a 2.8 dual core then?

yeah.. i've been looking around.. the t9300 (?) catches my eye (2.5ghz, 6mb cache 800fsb)..

yeah and you get a 5 minute battery life fyi. You might as well tote around your desktop along with a ups in a back pack.

Well a 3.06 dual or 2.53 (maybe 2.66 if we are lucky) quad are your choices in the extreme category. 2.8 will be the next down from extreme and that should be fine :)

It will probably still be a few years before id want a quad in my laptop. Nothing that supports quads that i would be doing on my laptop anyways.

well i think lots of media designers and video editors would be benefited becoz they always have to be moving around.. and their edit stations need to be powerful.. (read: ME) lols :)
