My beloved old canon A70 died 2 weeks ago.
Turn it on and the LCD display in back looks like someone threw an artists paint palet at it..long streaks of muddy color.
Must be time for a new one.
Any suggestions guys?
Thanks.

That's funny, I looked at a list and that exact model stood out.
Good to hear that I wasn't alone on this.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this model?

Secure Digital (SD) is the standard card and will work many devices that support SD. Any SD card that is over 4GB will be called Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC). However, not many devices will support SDHC, like my 24" Dell Monitor doesn't work with my 8GB and 16GB SDHC cards. :(

MMC, MMCplus, HC MMCplus...I am not sure what it is. I have a card saying MMCplus that came with my Canon PowerShot G9.

Specs beat the crap out of my old Canon A70..
All I do is take some outdoor pics and what I really want is good closeups on PC parts.. That I had issues getting with the A70
Oh, Ash, you should be getting an email about now..;)

It sounds like your A70 has a well known issue. Its fully covered under warranty regardless. Call up cannon and say you have a A70 with a bad CCD and needs a warranty repair. They shipped me a ups sticker, i threw it in the box and got it back working 5 days later. :)

I know... I was kinda glad my camera broke, but then i saw this... Sent it back, it works fine now, but... eh its nothing amazing.

It took me about a month longer than it would have if i didnt have a working camera, but i still hardcore want a new camera.

$50 more expensive ;)

Hopefully he can cancel this in time.
Don't be surprised if they call and try to sell you an SD card for $100, then backorder your camera...

Gentlemen;
Thank you much for all the info.
Unfortunately I did place the order 2 days ago but I did have that little guy standing on my shoulder saying to me" Why are they cheaper than everyone else and by a lot" so instead of using my debit card as I usually do out came the AMEX card. I give them till thursday to show it shipped or I cancel and call AMEX. Fini, done, no problems.
I may be Irish but sometimes intuition helps.
Again, my thanks to all of you for your advice and your warnings.:bows:

4/276 are Satisfied. 3 of them are probably fake. Maybe one isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

If it goes through I will breakdance on my head and set all my clocks to stock.
Hope it goes ok.

Thanks, but used AMEX, I'm covered..
If they want to play, I'll play, and play, and play..
Already decided, if they call and want to hustle me on extras I'll say "Sounds great, but I need a couple weeks to save up that much" and play it back against them. Will see where their greed takes them..

Was just wondering if indeed you did receive the camera and if it was the correct item, or did you just cancel the order?

When they started playing games I called them and before they could get into their spiel I asked: Just one question and one answer?
When are you shipping the camera?"
Song and dance from them, essentially non answers, so I called AMEX, told them the whole story, and asked that they pull there card from this moron.
Ordered the camera from the egg for $219.00 and it arrived yesterday.
