From the picture in the first post, I thought you were getting all nickel plated EK blocks... the copper ones still look good though.

What barbs are those? From that perspective, they look huge.

Looks to be a great build.

Question on the temperature sensor. I see the Danger Den Delrin Tee, but which sensor is it?

This one:
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&manufacturers_id=125&products_id=20435

Or this one:
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&manufacturers_id=153&products_id=23347

Maybe they are about the same.

hey, thanks everyone! had a long night yesterday.. found out
how hard it really is to drain my loop... took forever. i need to re-think
my drain process. so i got the HS off the striker quite easy, but it
was a mess, but good old acetone got all the stock paste off. pretty
good contact on the mosfet, i was expecting worst. putting on the
blocks were kind of weird, it was my first time doing so, so didnt know
what to expect. i used ceramique, i just put a small dab on the dies.
for the mosfet i used the whole pink gum looking stuff, should be sufficient
right?

overall the EK blocks look amazing, im going to acent each block with a
few blue LEDS, should be nice  still a long way to go but its going

pics in a few, looking for a memory card reader

@Martinm210: thanks, hopefully i can finally get my DSLR sorry but NIKON
i think your pics are plenty creative, how long you been in photography?
as a freelance artist im going to add that to a part of my service as soon
as i get my camera gear.

@Polizei: there bitspower barbs, and the two compression fittings are HUGE.. :yepp:

@Big_Daddy: hey! thanks for the tip on the FTP, and this isnt my only computer
its just the only one that works...

@disruptfam: thanks! im liking your rebuild too :)

@djnoob: there 40mm ACE fans from PPCS.. they just got in a bunch of mix
match colored fans similar to AC RYANS, btw the 8CFM produced by this tiny
fan is monstrous!

@Snyxxx: hey, yes danger den T and bitspower temp

@eddyr: exactly lol, its a pretty heavy box with all those fittings in there

@SaNxU: heres the link for the fan LINK (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=372&products_id=22089) also got the fan from PPCS, i like the individual LED lead its a nice feature

@everyone else: thanks!

there is nothing wrong with blue! lol, i was going to go all UV.. but im having
a hard time trying to match LED fans with the LEDS, so i was going to mod
then for just UV LEDS, but decided to go blue

as low as possible but no go.. only thing i can think of is modifying the

@Yeknom: nope, not sure if its silk screened on or what, i definitely would like to get it off.

@disruptfam: i got my LEDS/Controller from PPCS heres the led controller. im loving this thing :hump:
also the switch is bloody brilliant!

@fungry: thanks, emailed eddy. was a bit hasty at his first response but later emailed me saying that the top would be remade and he would send me a replacement  GO EK! http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=78626&stc=1&d=1210782635

didnt do much yesterday, spent all my time trying to work around the SB.. :( for now im just going to run single card, and drop in the SB top and other card asap i did start my front panel, its sort of a mock up. right now its obviously just plexi but i hope to get something laser cut in the future which isnt likely unless i can find some locals that can do it for cheap :( also added some mesh to the little 3.5" bay. switches will still be there just havent decided what the switch is going to do.

trying to figure out some sort of design as a window. i need some ideas.. i was going to just make it a circle  but when i think about it, it would look retarded lol

Hey evil. great work. I can tell you spent a lot of time on your build. If you are looking for someone to fab up a TJ07 front panel, talk to Charles at murderbox to see if he can get you one made with your logo.

He was able to do one for me for my project:
http://murderbox.com/uploads/faceplate_murdermod_fc.jpg

I was trying to find a good shop to make me a panel a while ago for my other case and it was challenging to find someone who would do a one-off without dropping stupid money.

No problem! It's getting made as we speak. It comes with a stealth optical door cover and back-light/mounting kit. It really sets the front panel off. I should be able to send you a PM once I get it early next week.

As for what it cost me, maybe connect with Charles@murderbox and he can tell you how much your custom lettering would cost?

Okay here's some stuff I just threw together.

I made the lines in the first to thick and it now reminds me of transformers :P
The second one was just a recycled idea that I've been thinking would be cool lasered.
Third was just me messing around with your name and would be highly complicated to actually do :P
and the 4th is just a modified circle design :/

I was more or less just bored so feel free to modify or use anything you wish. These are pretty basic aside from the evil one, which I really like

ok, small update. just playing with some stuff. spent alot of time think
and trying to figure out what and how im going to get everything done
got some issues..

1. rad (space, placement, tube route, radgrill)
2. res (placement, tube route, expected a rev1:()
3. pump (placement, makes weird noises, sort of fixed check out the videos)

Pump Vid1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t6FzyVWEy8)
Pump Vid2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaCsk2mpvFM)

somethings that might need to get explain that arent clear in the pics

im relocating a the fan controller to the back next to the PSU, but im
waiting to install the rads and hardware because i was going to put a
pump there, i should have enough room even with the pump there but
ill wait alittle.

Just emailed Eddy now, he found a solution that will work?

yea hes making a new top, hope it fixes it

this is the image he sent me look the same IMO and judging from the
bottom plate im not sure how hes going to do this.. but either way http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=78626&stc=1&d=1210782635

edit:

the only thing that fix the problem is moving it down but even then it changes the flow b/c the copper plate is made to fit the stock top..

Well with hose EK blocks being so free flowing from the start, I don't think it'll matter much ;)
Plus he probably only moved it a few mm's nothing that will be noticeable temp wise.

Your build so far looks amazing. Btw, I was wondering, what fans are you using? I can see that they are NMB-MAT but can't make out the model name.

And how would you rate them? Airflow? dB?

Thanks! Keep up the good work

@biftek.: regardless.. it still defeats the purpose of how the copper plate was originally designed.. and as a consumer thats the biggest fault

@chiguy: yea ive seen that build, i didnt like it. i want to keep the finishes on the front panel similar to the case which is a dust black

@fungry: there these fans (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835705011&Tpk=92mm) very very nice but there being switched for the acryans, going from 68cfm to 58cmfm so its not that bad.

@psmawson: thats good to know still puts me back a week though, and shipping takes for ever like another 2-3 weeks

@septim: yea EK is awesome, especially eddy bit ups to eddy

@Anemic: thanks!

did some work on the front panel and moved the rom to the bottom i think this is better
this is just a mock up, im going to change up the mounts the front panel will be nicely
attached with some velcro :)

that would be the sunbeam rheobus-extreme fan controller http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811995016

and this was a question i had a few post back.

got some weird noises coming from my pump, and some impeller movement
need to verify weather or not both are safe or not.

small update

ditched the small L idea and just inset the original covers for the front panel
better explained in the pics. the center cover maybe too high up and might
be covering the HD so that might be changed (cut) still deciding where to put
that second rad. the MCR240 sits nicely on the bottom, but im still iffy about
the MCR360 on top. well see i still got time since in waiting on EK.

Maybe i should give it go now hmm...

indeed great minds do think alike. i would suggest you not to cut it because
they tend to be flimsy, i was glad i thought about it before cutting them i still
might change the way its mounted because i dont like the bezel in the center
so that might be cut. ill probably work it out tonight or tomorrow busy week
and i really need a scroll saw.

no update today, i need a few of those off center fittings. emailed eddy and
he says that the tops are either going into production today or at least by this considering that its eddy its probably in production but hes a busy man
really im waiting it out for the top, because i got no idea how im going to

sure, its not complete, meaning im going to change it in the future but i can
show you guys. i can easily explain it, its not to complicated. its really just
connected to the 12v line on the PSU with 100 ohm resistors inline on each
3 array of LEDS.

Thanks evil, but I was more after seeing the actual connection, and wiring. To be more specific are you just going to connect it to a 4 pin molex and hide it somewhere, or have you come up some other solution?
Since you're connecting so many different arrays together (right?), I was curious to see that junction point. And where are you placing the switches?? :D

yes there are multiple arrays. theres 3 series total which then meet at a common connection (aka parallel) meaning they all come to one (+) and one (-) then thats going to be connected to a 2 pin connecthing which is inlined with my power switches which draws power from a 4 pin molex like normal. ill get pics as soon as i get to it

@yarden: Thanks :up:

no word on the ETA of the top but it took a few weeks to send
over my 775 mount plate for the supreme so i expect the same

no real update, spending most of my time on "Day and Night"
until the block top arrives. but i haven't stopped thinking about
the build for a second

Main Concerns:

1. Fitting the MCR-320 on top w/ fan inside
2. Pump/Res location
3. Tubing

everything else should be ok but those are my main concerns
once that block top comes in

any updates?

sort of, well i received my SB top a few days ago
and im starting to work on the homewrecker again
been keeping my self busy with day and night. but
ill be starting up again to night, after i clear some
space for the sucker. as of now, im going to drop
everything back into the system to make sure the
system functions properly then to the detailed mods
still worried about pump placement etc, ive decided
im going to do my loops like this;

first off, having issues with mounting the MCR320
up top, i will be mounting a MCR240 on top, with
a second MCR240 below in a series, these rads
will cool both GPUs

i havent decided weather or not to put the mobo
blocks in the same loop as the GPUs or the CPU

and im wondering if the two MCR240s will be have
similar or better results compared to the 360GTX

if anyone has a 240GTX in good condition, im willing
to trade off a MCR320 for it, so if anyone knows
someone please let them know, have there people
call my people and well talk

stay tuned for additional updates

thanks for the interest guys

What kind of issues u are talking about i have TJ07 as well and have BlackIce 360 mounted on top without any problems. There is not much space between rad plus fans and mobo but there is 3-4mm space.

update!

alot of work needs to be done. the radgrill was horrible.. hole
placement was pretty bad, never though this would be an issue
but it turns out it was made more problems then solved. i think
the best thing to do is to commission a machinist to make me
one because i am not happy with the ACRYAN radgrill.. i still
to do some more cutting to the case to fully fit the rad with out
the fans touching the mobo/etc. cutting the case was not much
fun either, alot of hard manual labor, but it did get enough of it
cut where i could atleast install the rad for inspection.

started tubing the mobo, to find the new SB giving me issues
again, with 3/4" OD tubing there is NO, i repeat NO room to install
the second tube, i switched fittings in the end so the SB now uses
a slightly smaller barb so i could at least tiptie it down. its ok now
but i was surprised.

so loop orders go like this:

loop1: 24v D5 - 360GTX - EK Supreme - SB - NB - 150RES Rev1
loop2: DDC 3.2 w/ XSPC top - mosfet - mosfet - DD Ione - DD Ione - 150RES Rev2

very very nice. whats the meanwell for?

im going to test the D5v at 24v  from swiftech efficiency curves
its .75 GPM higher at the same head pressure. now thats not compared
to an aftermarket top, which ill have to look into, but generally its
higher flow and more head pressure and thats both a plus

those are 1/2" ID 3/4" OD, bitspower. now septim is correct, almost
nothing will fit on the SB, i had to switch from fat boys, to DD hi flow
stubs, which have a much smaller OD and ID, it all works out in the
end so its ok. i would love to have full compression fittings care to
sponsor?

i got mine from PPCS, which i am slowly moving away from, i sent an

and request for a exchange with the same response..

@everyone else:

thanks for the replies, as an update ive started to design a new rad
grill for the case, i finished the bases but turns out swiftech's site
gives horribly wrong dimensions... very wrong dimensions. i need to
triple check again when i get home but after measuring the rad and
fan i need to redesign the grill. but when its done, i should be able to
drop in the MCR320 with 25mm fans with little to no issue

Sorry for an off topic question, but would those Mosfet and Chipset Water blocks fit an Asus Rampage Formula X48?

small update:

got most of the basic design of my rad grill done, turns
out swiftech's dimensions are really wrong, one thing
i did forget to measure is the length and width of the rad
so if thats wrong too, then its back to the drawing board.
literally.. well needed to test the meanwell, so i decided
to do some modding to that as well. simple, effective. now
all that is left is a power switch and a relay. then it should
be ready to go. right now, whats really holding me back is
the top mounted rad. so the sooner i can get this radgrill
made, the better.

Oh evil you're extreme, putting the d5 down to 24v... we'll see how it works;)

The only think that its a little worst than hole system is the upper radgrill, i think it will look better if you can do some mesh like the original silverstone one, but for 3x120, it'll look so elegant;) because now the radgrill its cutting the line of the tj07... (sorry for my english..)

heres a version of my grill with inspiration from charles_h (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3074971&postcount=231) and his murderbox (http://www.murderbox.com/)
big +ups to charles  now my version is obviously a bit fatter for air flow
which makes it loose its elegance.. :shakes: this is one of the many different
designs ive done, just havent posted. this one i just rendered really quickly
just to show you guys. dont worry about the front, its just a mock up, just
wanted to see how it would look.

still need to check the dimensions of the rad grill again, to makes sure that
it fits, as of now everything fits perfectly, with my rad grill it lifts the rad
5mm giving me enough space to clear the mobo and etc. still need to cut
the mobo tray, and might need to change a few things but would make
things much more enjoyable.

I've heard of a few people with some complaints about this case and I wanted to know if any of them are valid.

1) "The side panel is flimsy and is not brushed aluminum like the rest of the case is"

2) "The side panel never fits on correctly... same thing with the motherboard tray. The screws never line up properly"

3) "The hard drive mounting system makes it so that the hard drives are not mounted straight because when you turn the screws, it moves them"

Also, how do you recommend stealthing a DVD Drive to perfectly match this case?

Thanks

Hey thanks guys,

@disruptfam: im using the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR w/ VR on

@RAID: thanks! :)

@b@llz0r: no theres two loops,

loop 1: CPU + NB + SB + 360GTX + D5-V
loop 2: GPU + GPU + MOSFET + MOSFET + MCR320 + DDC

the DDC will be on the GPU loop

ok small update, the DDC is just there its not going to be
part of that loop though it is right below the res. i mounted
the first res for the CPU loop, looks like a good place for it,
the second loop is going to be filled from the back though the
"T" on the bottom GPU, like charles_h's murderbox. i
need to move the fillport around as you can see its not aligned
very well. the MCR is mounted up too but no fans yet, still
need to finalize the rad grill design. debating weather or not to
get things powdercoated is hard, theres not alot of places that
will do such a small job locally, i may end up taking it to the
shop and spraying it myself. i am very low on funds (D60.. lol)
right now, and i really want to have a nice finish on the inside.

things that still need to be done

1. finalize radgrill design
2. finalize front panel design
3. install and test D5-V @24v
4. refabricate inside panels covers (floor, 5.25 bay, mobo tray)
5. wire up LED light controler to accept 12v
6. lighting effects (blue led, uv cathos)
7. paint/powerdercoat interior

and a whole bunch more

enjoy

1) "The side panel is flimsy and is not brushed aluminum like the rest of the case is"

2) "The side panel never fits on correctly... same thing with the motherboard tray. The screws never line up properly"

3) "The hard drive mounting system makes it so that the hard drives are not mounted straight because when you turn the screws, it moves them"

Also, how do you recommend stealthing a DVD Drive to perfectly match this case?

Thanks

1. not true, the side panel is very strong, very thick material and it is also very nicely brushed, not sure where your getting this from

2. the side panel fits on very nicely and so does the mobo tray, maybe user error if anything

3. not sure what your asking here, the hard drive mounting system is pretty straigh forward, its just a 3.5" bay with a slot that sides in place on a mount that is held in place by a thumb screw

stealting a drive is pretty straight forward, all i did was cut off the arms on a bay cover and hot glued the face of the bay cover on top the front of the rom's tray. problem that i did have with this is that all the bay covers fit tightly so it may have some issues opening and reseating. you need to play around with all the bay covers to make enough clearance for the stealthed bay

check out b@llz0r's tj07, he did a quick tut on how he stealthed his drive

@evil98

What's the ID of the barb on those Bitspower fittings you have on the CPU ?

Are those 1/2" x 3/4" ?

What do you anticipate the noise level being on this system with your two water pumps? Do you think it will be quieter than a Mach II?

I am coming from phase and coverting to watercooling (less worry)

I am going to build a very similar system to what you have here, but I am concerned that it won't be any quieter, which is one of the things I am most looking forward to about a watercooling setup.

Thanks

well actually this system is quiet loud, theres 3x 120mm 114 CFM panas for in a pull
on the 360GTX. thats pretty much the main source of the sound, there is a
high pitched hum from the 3x 40mm fan, and the 2x 92mm make a decend amount
as well. generally im not a sound guy, well my next build will be but generally
im not a sound guy.

heres a pic of how the loops work, hopefully without issues

Thanks for the fan info!

If you want you can took an old fan with the same sizes like yours and take apart the rotor, so you will have only the body, and you can use it as spacer, and the air didn't escape... don't know if i has explained well...

@SaNxU: you would actually want the air to escape if its sealed the air has
no place to go, something like negative pressure? im just going to get some
metal spacers that i can find at the hardware store.

i am using the D60 in these shoots :) thanks

im not so sure about powder coating the internals for a couple reasons.

1. im very low in funds
2. theres no close local coater that will do it for a fair price, a specially
such a small job.

anyways i think im done with the rad grill design, im liking this one.

I love the way the UV lighting looks on watercooling setups.

However, I have a wife that has a skin condition and she gets skin cancer very easily. What I want to know is this....

Are those UV cathodes bad for you? I can see that the cathodes themselves are blocked for the most part by the casing, but is the light thats reflecting off of the components still harmful? I don't want to hurt my skin or the skin of my wife over time because of "bling". I cannot seem to find any information online saying whether this UV lighting in our computers is bad or not.

Thanks,

Brian

updates?

evil-98
06-29-2008, 09:47 PM
i got an update, not much but an updates an update.

ill post some pics tomorrow, this machine (unfinished Day and Night)
has nothing on it until i get the CPU rmaed (stuck sensors bother me)

but i got the screws and spacers for the fan, and things are
looking good.

after much talk with Martinm120 and reading over his testing he had
previously concluded that the D5-V will not benefit from going over
13vdc... so as bummed as that is atleast i have 2 DDC + XSPC tops
which he also concluded to be the current king of pressure. i could
go with dual pumps (D5-V) but that would mean id have to rip one D5
out of my other machine (Day and Night) which maybe an option since
im going to RMA the CPU soon. im just not sure if i will benefit from
all the pressure/flow. i do have the radiator space for the heat dump
but the question is "is it really worth the trouble" i mean if there was a
"COOLER" option (some kinda dual top for D5s that was blingy) then of
course but just two D5s next to each other with tube going around
them doesnt do it for me. i mean i wanted to go dual DDCs untill i put
the two next to each other and said eww..

so as of now its DDCs in this rig, i will try the D5-V at 24 anyways just
for fun (huge peeing contest, dont got enough tube to do a head pressure
test)

another thing, hopefully i get some good news. anyways the radgrill and
front panel maybe made very soon (which is exciting for me atleast) and
hopefully can get my interior powder coated or get some time in the booth.

im just so low on money right now, its getting tough with the price of
everything rising, i might have to settle (which i hate oh so much) but
well see.

anyways

@Breathless: after doing much research and understanding your post
ive concluded that though UV cathos do emit UV rays (which in this
case are UVA rays) it maybe no different then being out side without
sunglasses or sunblock for a few minutes.

now this is interesting, i just read that polycarbonate blocks most UV rays
now only if the protective tube on the cathos were made of polycarb then
we wouldnt have any issues at all. too bad its acrylic..

another thing im reading is general fluorescent (CCFL - FL stands for fluorescent
light) UV lights are simple made with Wood's glass which basically blocks all visible
light and only emits very low level long waved uv which doesnt damage much

i think its safe to say that there isnt going to be much of an effect from prolonged
exposure. but i do have on solution for you if you do feel uncomfortable with it.

Switch your windows acrylic to polycarbonate

ok update time!

ive decided to go with dual DDCs for the CPU loop and
a D5-V for the GPU loop. so i think i know where im
putting the pumps, only one will be visible, the secound
ddc will be next to the rad, i wish i could display them
both in a nice manner but there isnt enough room and
the way i would have to tube the two tops are not to
my liking, so this is the only way, which is fine to me.
hopefully the ek top for the D5 will make its way to the
US soon, so i can get one of those for this build would
be awesome if it came in an acrylic too, so it would
match. but thats asking for alot. sorry for the grainy pics
shooting at high iso, i didnt use a tri pod. most all things
are up in the air, and i need to make sure that the pump
will actually clear the side panel, and a few other things.
but this project is definitely moving

dunno if this is in the thread already, but what size LEDs did you use (and what would you use 3mm vs. 5mm for?)

evil-98
07-08-2008, 01:43 PM
in this build all leds will be 5mm, reason for that is generally because all i had were 5mm
to be honest i would of used 3mm, for the face that there smaller and would be more
discreet, but there is generally no difference between a 5mm led and a 3mm

leds come in a whole array of sizes, shapes, styles, it all depends on the application you
want to use it for.

im working on a LED guide, its been in the making for about a week, and hopefully
ill have something by next week

On the topic of LEDs, I'm looking to acquire some for a build I'm working on. Specifically I'm looking for bright blue ones that are square (well, rectangular but they usually refer to them as square), and suitable for running off a 12v rail. I've seen it commented elsewhere that ebay is the best bet, but honestly I rather get them from someplace a little more professional. Any advice on the best place to pickup some LEDs? I swung by radioshack the other day, even though they rip you off for everything, but they had almost nothing in terms of LED selection (or just about any electronics actually). Seems that more and more radioshack specializes in cheap electronic toys and cellphones with the odd adapter thrown in.

If you do put that LED guide together, in addition to mentioning locations to pick up LEDs, a section on the proper way to wire them up and perhaps a link to a resistor color code chart would probably be a good idea.

evil-98
07-08-2008, 02:36 PM
all things you suggested are already in the guide,
the guide is generally swayed for pc applications.

reason ebay is a good play to start is because there
are many overseas sellers that sell in bulk which
has a great volume saving. so theres a higher value
buy in quantity. now you dont have to always buy
from ebay to get a good deal, i had purchased my
LEDS previously from jab-tech.com and PPCS, but
when i do buy in bulk its easy to find a manufacture
that will allow mixed buys with of course a minimum
(either $ or quantity)

just do a google search for some suppliers (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=PC1&q=led+supplier&btnG=Search)

ill find some more reputable suppliers soon

Just reading your build, very nice work! I do acrylic fabrication and normal cell cast and extruded acrylic block all UVA, UVB and most UVC. That is how it is UV stabilized so it doesn't yellow and crack if left in the sun. So there is no need to swap out your acrylic for polycarbonate. Just an FYI in case anyone was wondering.
