Helloa,

Am looking for a new camera that is between the 200€ to maximal 300€.

Am looking at:
Canon Powershot A650 IS (http://www.canon-europe.com/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/Digital_Camera/PowerShot/PowerShot_A650_IS/index.asp)
Canon Powershot SX100 IS (http://www.canon-europe.com/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/Digital_Camera/PowerShot/PowerShot_SX100_IS/index.asp)

Other brands/types are welcome :)

Few things that i'm looking for:
- Not to big in size (size of camera's above is maximum).
- Needs to use Batteries (have lots of GP 2700mA batteries from my old camera and not planning to throw them in some corner unused. :))
- SD cards is a plus (also alot of those so called 'Xtreme speed' cards) but it's not a must.

Want to use the camera to shoot photo's on vacations, outside photo and more of that, nothing special.

----------------

One of the things that i see between the A650 and SX100 is that the A650 has:

Face Detection AF/AE/FE

Do i need it / do i see a difference, when i shoot with or without it (by portrait/family photo's for example).

Thank you in advance

No one ever needed face detection 5 years ago or 50 - it's just a novel feature that the company can put a check mark beside on the box now.

The A650 has a larger sensor - 1/1.7" vs 1/2.5". What this means is less noise (grain) in your images. This normally isn't a problem on sunny days but any other time image noise can rear its ugly head with a sensor that small.

Something tells me the A650 can produce better images but I don't know enough about them to really say.

Thank you for the replay.
Also thought the A650 was better.

But the difference of the sensor and that the A650 can hold 4 battery's ..
Is it worth €50,-?

If it's really better and i can see it back in the pictures (the sensor difference). I gladly pay more since i want to use the camera for years.

You will see a difference in picture quality due to the bigger sensor at higher ISO's (probably 400+).

the pixel density of the A650 is actually higher than that of the SX100, and thus is more suseptible to noise and will, by definition have worse light gathering capability. That said, the A650's pixel density is only 2.5% higher than that of the SX100 so the difference is minimal.

As for me - I'm happy owner of Canon Powershot A650 IS. It's very nice digital camera!
If you still don't know which camera should you buy I would recommend you to visit TestFreaks, choose digital cameras category and sort models by score:
http://www.testfreaks.co.uk/digital-cameras/?sort=score
Such way you'll see which digital cameras have the best ratings, based on expert and user reviews from all over the world.
Prices listed near every digicam, so you'll find the best model for your budget €200-300 without any problems.
Hope it will help.

Check out DPReview - feature search (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare.asp). Enter the features you want and then look at the ones in your price range.

Edit - price is one of the "features" you can choose if you don't even want to see things over your price.

I bought the Canon Powershot A650 IS :D

@Alesha, Welcome to the forum, could you perhaps post a photo of the outside with your A650?
And your settings?

Find my camera very 'blurry' when i make photo's of tree's (camera on a stand so no shaking).

Where can i post photo's of 5+ MB's .. Imageshack makes my picture smaller even when the resize option is off =(
