First I have heard of this, thoughts and comments anyone?

I especially like the part in the original article that says:
So, if for example, you'd called up last month to ask why your DirectX 8.1 game wasn't working on your Athlon XP machine, Microsoft may well have replied, "We don't know sir. That'll be £35 please."
Now, if you call up they'll say: "yes we've fixed that, sir. If you promise to be a good boy and only ring us after we've fixed things we'll let you off the £35 this time."
Eheh, I haven't really noticed any problems so I'm contemplating downloading it... along with that beta service pack. Anyone used the XP Beta Service Pack yet?

The funny thing is at least one of us should have had some type of issue...at least I would think so.

I believe this only happens with the early build of XP that came with DirectX8.0 and not 8.1. So if you have the early build and then have to install 8.1 yourself, you see this problem. If you have a later build like 2600 then you should be okay.
