Well, I came across something strange. With my AT7, after installing Win2K for the first time (got sick of XP) I originally had my CPU decode set to Normal. After the install of 2K, I thought, why not change it to Ultra. When I did so, I was immediately greeted with an INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE bsod. I changed it back to Normal, and everything was, well, normal again.

I am using a T-bird 1.333, could it be that these CPUs do not like the Ultra decode mode? or is there something else that I might not know?

Strange, when MrIcee and DDTUNG first tested the KX7, which has pretty much the same bios and timings as AT7, they did it with 1400 t-birds I think. They where getting like 190 fsb with Ultra, I was useing an XP chip and could ony do 178 Ultra. After they switched to a XP chip they were down with me as far as FSB.
So basiclly I was under the impression the T-Birds ran well with Ultra.

Pretty much the same with the AT7 here which is similar to the KX7. It does Ultra to 172 and I have to switch to Fast using an XP2000+. It should do Ultra at least to 166MHz FSB easily.

Well, I gave it another go. Booted into the BIOS and changed the decode to Ultra, and also upped my DDR voltage to 2.65V and set Vcore to 1.80

Win2K booted up no problem. I have no idea what caused that BSOD now.

Also, enabling Ultra added 102 3DMarks to my score. Sweet deal :D

It must have been those pesky BSOD gremlins. :D

2-2 ?CPU Fast Command Decode:
? Ultra (for 100 and 133 CPU)
? Fast (for CPU overclocked to 166 and above)
Taken from the Abit tweaking guide for KR7 and KX7.
