I use lm sensors and grellm or just the sensor applet...

use lm sensors. however, be very careful when following the instructions. Following them is critical or it won't work. I know lol

You will need the AHUCI (or what ever it is) enabled in your kernel for LM sensors to pick it up properly.

ACPI maybe?

The only thing I've ever done in my kernel to get it working properly was to make sure the right sensor chip was compiled in.

If you don't know what chip you use, just compile them all as modules, and lm sensors can stick the right one in with detection, generally.
