would it be possible to make a converter for a ddr2 MB to run DDR3, i had sean that the specs had the same pin config but a different key, and some motherboards had timings that are high enough for ddr3 so could a ddr2/3 chipset like the x38 be used with a slot converter

are the ddr2 and 3 chipsets the same for the x38/48 i wasnt sure but i thought that this would be interesting for boards like my dfi that have settings from 2 or 3 up to some ungodly large latency for cas, ras, ext

i think it would actually be possible to get this to work... BUT... it would probably be slower than native ddr2 and getting this to work would require an immense amount of work and time and manpower and resources :D

its not worth it... there is no easy adapter thing like allowing socket 370 cpus in slot1 mainboards or pentium m cpus in 478 desktop systems etc.

what has teh problem with it is it the pcb or the ic, and would it need an optimized bios and that would make it unviable

i would think that some cas6 GTR/GTS with 1.8-2.0V would be great for a ddr2 transition since most boards have the dividers for it
