Personally I love Seagate drivers, in my main rig I used to have three Seagate Barracuda IV drives and one Maxtor 7200PRM 8mb HD.

The Maxtor drive was more loud then all the Seagate drives together.

But if you are looking for speed, WD is the current champion.

Maxtor, I have had 5 Maxtors over the last year and they have all been great. If I build a system for a friend or anyone wants a hard-drive I sell Maxtor.

Maxtors have always been famous for handling the high fsb and still living a nice long life span, Seagate would be the next contestant up for running. Western Digital is a decent drive, but their biggest niche is targetted at oem manufacturers. They make a nice quiet, and fast drive, but they don't last as long or capable of with standing the tortures the other two brands have proven to with stand.
