View Full Version : Exhaust rad through PSU???

I'm doing some research for my new build. I'm space concern for this one so I thought I could use a high static pressure fan (TriBlade Delta) in one of the PA120.3 fans, mod the PSU box so I can remove the 120 mm. fan and attach it to the exhaust side of the rad fan. This way I have more space. I have tried to find some post about this but found none.
Will the heat generated by the PSU affect the temps in the water loop??
Thanks for your comments.

It depends on what will be in front of what. If you'll make :
Fan pushing -> Rad -> PSu -> out of the case
The PSU heat won't affect anything... if you'll change the psu and rad it will affect.

Just attaching a 120 radiator to where the fan blows into the PSU would be fine. But I don't really understand what you're doing. Is there still gonna be a fan blowing through the PSU?

Thankx for the answer. I'm building my own alu case, it's a HTPC so I'm space concern (my wife under no circunstances allows me to bring my V2000 near our TV). I don't want to give up WC so first I tought I could place the PSU just on top of the CPUs, but this will force me to sell my DD TDXs and use rack mount (U1) blocks, (there is an apogee version). I think I will give it a try, I mill make the PSU case that I have in mind and try to messure water temps in a testing loop. I will exhaust the rads air through the PSU and then outside. This way I can remove the 120mm fan and gain that space.

What I would do in this situation is instead of removing the fan from the psu, make it to where it is an intake fan, and just make it pull air through the rad. Make a shroud that attaches to the psu and it will pull air through the rad to cool the psu thus saving space.

This is actually exactly what I am talking about

That would work fine. Just make sure you have a high CFM fan.
