im looking for a fast writing flash drive and im down to the patriot 16GB or the voayager/gt and i wanted to know if were to find benchmarks with write speed. and i saw that the gt was srite optimized so thats what im leaning to but i need benches

also will they do ready boost in fat32 or could i make a partition in NTFS and use it with ready boost with a fat32 partition

The speeds depend a great deal on the platform and we are testing over a LOT of platforms right now. Keep in mind also that as far as 16gb drives, I have not seen a faster 16gb on the market than ours. But, due to IC and controller changes, a 16gb drive cannot be faster than the smaller density drives that are out now. So, it is definitely not as fast as the original GTs at 34/27 R/W speeds.

What is the fastest drive you made? 34/27 is insane. I only need 4gb, but 8 or more would be nice.

When is that 32 gig survivor coming back online? :(

im looking for 10-15MB/s on a g5 mac with usb2 and with my x38 dfi, patriot can give me 8MB/s and so can ocz so im looking so something faster than those

Almost any quality standard usb stick will do that. My sandisk cruzier titanium does 15/15. Rather mediocre... I want to hit the limit of USB2 :)

is that continuous or for small files they are different and i dont want to risk something, also the 16GB drives are way slower than the 4GB and 8GB

I wasn't best pleased with the speed my 2GB Voyager; it was slower than the 8GB value Buffalo RUF-C8G/U2 ( which has suddenly write protected itself lol ) I do like the build though, I currently own 3 corsairs and they bounce nicely when dropped :)

so i saw this while searching
http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67674

dose this mean that there are slc 16GB drives floating around and how would identifies it, i can go to frys and if i have a way to tell i can make sure to get the slc and not the slower mlc

if not i think that i will still go with it or the normal, if the normal also a single mlc or is it duel mlc

No, it is not possible to make a 16gb drive in SLC right now due to the IC density.

RAM GUY said:

The largest SLC flash chip on the market continues to be 4GB. So the largest possible SLC based drive in a standard form factor continues to be 8GB.

So, what would be the fastest USB flash drive i could get? Are certain capacities usually faster than others?

i thnk that the 8GB or 4GB gt is the fastest but they are imposable to find in stores and auction for $200 so it unreasonable to get one,

That one?

And the 8gb models look to go for about $100

sorry to ask another question but

dose the Survivor 16GB have the same speed at the voyager GT 16GB and what are their speeds if they are different and will there be a gt
