Hi guys, this is going to be a semi long post so please bar with me. Me and my friend have having a issue with our computer.
His computer is:
AMD 3400x2
2gb DDR800
8800GT 640mb
SB 24bit Sound card
200gb Harddrive

My computer:
AMD 5000x2(non-be)(oc'd to 3.1ghz)
2gb DDR800(4-4-4-15)
2900xt 512mb
SB XFI
2x Raptors 75gb 16mb cache

Clay's Computer:
AMD 6000x2(Default clocks)
2gb DDR800
7950 512mb
SB Audigy
120gb Harddrive

The issue me and my friend are facing is that Clay's computer gets almost triple the frames per second of us, in World
of Warcraft. Clay's computer with everything maxed out (no aa/ao on any of the computers) is 150fps. Me and my friends computer
caps at 83 FPS max (V-Sync is turned off, no temp. aa, or nvidia's special AA) and it's just puzzling us. The reason I think
My computer is low on fps, is because on my motherboard (Asus M2R32-MVP) I have my video card in the 2nd pci 16x slot because
my heatsink was larger than I expected and blocks the first port.

I was wondering did anybody have any ideas of how me and my friend are getting less fps than Clay's computer? We're all using
Xp sp2. The fps margin is almost in every game, except crysis (we play CoD4, NFS:Pro, Warcraft 3, Doom3, UT3, and C&C3)

Thank you for reading my post. :)

What mobo? I don't know a lot about the AMD platform anymore but many Intel boards such as P965/P35 are only 4x on the second slot. So if that's the case on your mobo too that could be the problem.

Though you didn't mention what slot your friends card is in. Also couldn't hurt to test some other games/3D apps.

Background programs? You running active virus scanning in the background?

Is he running at a lower resulution to boost FPS? Is he "ACTUALLY" getting those fps, or just saying he is? hehe

Clay and my friends computer are running at 1280x1024, i'm running at 1440x900, no back ground programs, and on my motherboard both slots are 16x. Clay's is in fact running at that speed, we all stay in the same house.

Ok, a higher res. That's something. Run 3DMark on all machines at it's default res. Maybe start with 01, more overall system speed dependent than GPU bound.

1440x900 is actually rendering slightly LESS pixels than 1280x1024

1400x900= 1.296M
1280x1024= 1.310M

Last night, I took out my Vid. card and put it in the first SLi slot with no speed change. I've installed 3 different drivers and still nothing, Clay's computer outdoes my computer in almost every single game... except 3dmark01, where i get 3k above his... I have no clue what's up. Any ideas?!:eek:
