But yeah.
Hoi people of extremesystems, again.
I've just got a 9600gt off my dad as a gift for getting into uni..
It's working amazingly - it's my first real card so i'm over the moon to get over 10,000 on 3dmark01!
I've currently got 4 hard drives (1xraid0 and 2 seperate 80gb)
2 mahoovise fans (12 en 14 cm)
4gb GEIL 6400
c2d 6550
..
I've got all that on a 430W psu..

Now, i'm wondering..would i be better of with getting a new psu?
I've never had to buy one before..so i'm not sure what wattage i'm looking at.. I think 500w isn't enough? but then again 430 works.

At the moment everything is at stock... i keep having problems when i overclock to 3.2ghz.. vista works sweet but then when i turn it on about 3 days after i've overclocked..it fails to boot and then just goes straight to default settings(volts, mhz, timings etc). (btw i had an 8500gt)

And now i've got an even bigger card..
would it be a problem when i go to overclock?

Any advice would be amazing!
Hope everyone is well!

what kind of psu do u have, that matters alot more than what the wattage is, but if u want something different then go for a corsair 550vx or whats ur price range that makes it easier to say what one to go for

Well, I don't know what 'kind' of psu it is :' )
It's a Taurus p430w-pfc-taurusx-j
From what i gather it's just a cheapo one.
It came with the case so i didn't think anything of it.
Hope that helps!

Ah, i forgot to mention budget.
Well, can't really afford anything over the £50/60 mark, if i can help it anyway.
Would strech a bit further if i had to x]

Woah, get a new PSU before it fails and takes a component with it!

The Corsair HX520 is real nice - extremely reliable.

I knew that was coming!
It seems soo stable though :' )
But, you're right.

What kind of wattage should i be looking at?
That psu you linked was nice, i'll have a look round for prices and stuff!

Around 500 watts is fine, as long as it is a quality brand like Corsair or PC Power and Cooling.

Took all your advice and got a Corsair modular hx520w.
It's preeeeety darn amazing.
Really good quality, loads of cables, cable ties, Corsair Badge and even a little Corsair bag.
Just hope it does well in o/c'in :D
Cheers babes
