Currently running this:

Is this pc2-6400 or pc2-8500. Its supposed to be 800mhz oc to 1066, which it is i guess. I am looking to buy more, is this a suiteable set:

I'm a little worried about mixing models, going from CM2x1024-8500C5D to TWIN2X2048-8500C5D. Also, is mixing a 4gig and a 2gig kit going to give me issues, if i were to chose such a path?

Yes running 2x1GB with 2x2GB results in single channel mode.

Your memory has EPP profile for 533 that means that can be supported by spd
But if it does not have it you can adjust settings manually

To be honest, still a little confused here.

The pics indicate that you have PC6500 memory running at 533mhz or DDR1066. It also has PC6400 settings in the SPD which are required to allow the system to boot at the default settings.

I would not advise mixing a 2 x 1gb kit and a 2 x 2gb kit. You are welcome to try it and some get it to work just fine. However, we do not recommend mixing memory types like that as it can be unstable for some.

So the link to the twinx corsair kit I linked will work alright? Mixing models isn't any sort of an issue?

Mixing different densities of memory can cause issues usually due to mixing differenct ICs. And, the kits you have linked are different densities and therefore are likely not using the same ICs. You are welcome to try it but, we cannot guarantee compatibility. Most MOBO makers advise against this type of mixing also.

Alright. I got my hands on an identical kit to the one in my original post. According to my motherboard specs it supports 4x1gig. I plug all four in and my timings drop from 5-5-5-15 to like 5-7-7-28 on the memory tabof cpu-z (sorry i'm at work on lunch so i dont have a screenie), and i'm failing prime95 very quickly with all four, but not memtest86, and wow and lotro are crashing to desktop.

Both memtest and prime95, and gaming, go smoothly with either set of just two dimms in either of my four mb slots, but i get issues with all four at once. Any suggestions on what i need to set the timings and voltages too? I think one kit runs at 2.1v and the other at 2.2v by default is this an issue?

Second, what MOBO do you have and what is the voltage you have set for your memory controller.

Well they are both cm2x1024-8500c5d but i think different versions... I have the dell xps720 motherboard, i can get you more detailed info in a few hours. I cant access any bios information on that mb other than to allow other os programs editing rights. I have nTune installed so i can check in there if it has the ability to check that and you can tell me where to look. =)

edit typo

If your bios will not allow you to adjust the voltage to the memory controller, you may not be able to get 4 modules stable. I'd suggest you contact Dell since you have the XPS. I am not familiar with their bios.

I believe nTune will allow me to change it but i'm not sure. Should i try setting them both to 2.1? I don't know why one kit is running at 2.2 the recommended for this memory is 2.1 i thought.

Increased voltage to 2.2 and it cleared 45 minutes of prime95 (was failing in less than a minute before) and games are running steady now. I'll let it run all night tonight and see where we stand. Thanks for the help yellow beard.
