When Intel X48 chipset delay, Nvidia 790i Ultra has a opportunity entering market early.

Some overclocker already posted good scores. Don't doubt, this chipset is really good so far.

Everyone wants good high fsb and stable. I test it for few days and really love it.

Here are some pics and results for sharing

I never think Nvidia chipset could do Quad Core FSB easily, but 790i really is so easy and very stable. 3D score is really unimaginable.

Today(3/18) is releasing day. I believe 790i will have some numbers in few days.

strange........

754mhz gf9800gx2(k|ngp|n run) scores the same as sli 9800gtx on 800mhz.
cpu was almost the same quad 10*450

doesn't it suppose to be otherwise ?

Nice scores Andre, too bad you guys don't do any game tests...

To me seems the cards perform pretty well in 3dmark 2001 and 2003 , though 2005 and 2006 is not much above my 8800GTS 512 with lower clocks (800/1100/2000) ... hopefully new Gfx drivers and mobo's bios updates will release some more power...

No tweak at all and I remember Vince didn't use 4.55 or 4.6G for testing, but I think 9800GX2 performance is really nice. I will post 9800GX2 later.:)

In fact, the same G92 core, so the score is the same for sure. 9800GTX has better pwm. I think it's the most better than than GTS under LN2.

I got about the same scores yes in 3dmark2005 and 2006 with 169.21 drivers, though 2001 and 2003 are way out of my league, your setup scores about 5k more there... amasing driver optimisation or better ram from the 790i there... or the hands of a golden tweaker

Good stuff and you made me wanna buy this mobo ! It's pretty hard to resist :p:

Is there no need of cooling for the rams and spawas at these graphiccards?

good testing

ppl will believe me some more now that FSB Ocing is a piece of cake when they see all the testing done ;)

good cooling and most chips will give ppl 600MHz+ too :yepp:

there is no benefit from engineering's point of view

they are of the opinion that it will not add anything to performance and that it's all bling

we suggested those changes along with some others but there was no need for them so go figure

if someone can give us a compelling and factual argument it will be easier to present and maybe get those changes done

That would only make the prices go up and they are already costing 343€ in here so please do not put solid ones:)

my point exactly

also they asked us if hardware raid would be worth putting in

my sentiment was the same as above heheh

but once SSD drives become fast and affordable hardware raid will be very important :D

What do you mean by hardware raid? Can i not put a couple raptors in Raid 0 using this board without a raid card? I better be that i dont understand what you mean.

He means "pure" hardware RAID utilizing a controller + parity processor ( like the decent raid cards ).

ppl don't understand that no motherboard on the market actually comes with a proper hardware raid controller hehe

they are all software raid controllers no matter what brand/board/chipset

They do not cost so much, i have a P35-DS3L from Gigabyte and it was about 120$ and it has solid capacitors.
And about the reason: yeah, sure, put all sort of stuff on the board but things that will help it last longer have no place on the mobo. And talking about engineering, how did they dimension the NB cooler on the 780i sli?
Like, hmm, i guess this will do manner?

Look at the price of a P35 and the price of a 790i Ultra, just the SPP and MCP are more expensive then that motherboard

DMH the point was that considering the price of the 790i and considering the price of the DS3L the capacitors are a small percentage from the whole mobo cost.
If they would have put solid ones in the Evga that maybe would have set their price higher by a whopping 10$ more at maximum.

When the price is already 350€ 10€ more is alot

Yes indeed nice results from 790i.
@ DMH:those 350$ arent from hardware costs. We can agree that you certainly pay for the EVGA name.
All what i am saying is that they could have done easily a nicer board.
I'm a hardware engineer working in the car electronics(ECU,TCU) so i would like to think that i am knowing what i'm talking about.

i see they are STILL putting the sata plugs in that retarded spot.
i see they are STILL only giving 4 sata ports with the 5th clear up by the northbridge

totally retarded

someone beat the hell out of nvidia and eVGA for putting those stupid plugs where they are and for not putting atleast 8 Sata ports.

with their stupid ports if i use 2 sata dvd drives i can only use 2-3 hard drives.
wrongggg we need a minimum of 6 sata ports for hard drives and 2 different ports, maybe clue color designed for Sata DVD.

i wish Intel would use the unlocked ram/cpu dividers. this makes ram overclocking MUCH MUCH higher and better!

Try booting with just one stick on the grey slot, which has the greater distance to teh socket. It worked for me! Then up the vdimm and boot with both sticks in black slots.

I had the same issue, no single stick (out of the 4 I had worked in any slot to boot my evga 790i). If he has the same issue as me where using one did not work, then he can't flash the new spd if he can't boot, kind of a catch 22 unless he has a friend or another ddr3 motherboard. I ended up buying a cheap $135 (yeah, cheap... I got 4gb ddr2 1000 for the same as that 1gb 1066 kit) ddr3 kit just to boot and set voltage in order to boot the cellshocks. I'm sure though, that if you do not want to go that route, you should be able to get these updated through RMA no? Of course this could take a while...
