I've got another KX7 question... I just ordered my KX7-333R and I have a 2200+ here. I don't know which version or bios it will be when I get it but should I have a problem getting it to boot with the 2200+ (not unlocked yet, conductive pen on the way) if I'm running the original bios?

my mates board came with the 7m version..bought only a few week befor mine from the same store..

if you need 7m bios look here..towards the bottem of the page

Either bios should be fine...I've used both no probs.

But I warn both of you...you'll need to connect the # 5 L3 bridge for your 2200+'s to work on the KX7...the 9K bios DOES NOT allow the KX7 to recognize the cpu...this is a known issue.

Go read my thread here Unlocking Guide (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1261) for directions on how to unlock the 2200+.

DuraN

His BIOS said 7M, i think he said. Just like mine :D

I just got mine too, i really hope it works with the T-Breds.

Rollin

umm mdzcpa .. i cant find a sticker on the front side of the mobo..
it must be on the back :(

it will be some time again before i take out the mobo from the case..if i get time over the weekend ill take a peek

there was a sticker on the box saying KX73RTHD000566..
is there any other way to ID the board's version..
looked in sandra under mainboard info..it says Version v1.0~

DuRaN.. the bios im running is the stock 9K that shipped with the mobo..

DuraN

Yeah Rollin but its a sticker on the BIOS chip, i thought that was what he meant :p

Im running 9K too, ill try with a T-Bred when i get my money next month.

mdzcpa
07-18-2002, 07:11 AM
Hmmmm...okay. I was hoping to find out what mobo version # supports the Tbred. I would assume Abit changed the mobo version # when they made the change to accomodate the Tbreds since it was a physical change to the board.

Does anyone else know?

Most of my parts are due in today. Unfortunately the case and cooling won't be in until next week... I may test the 2200+ on the KX7 without unlocking it first to see if it works. Question about AS3... Can someone tell me what the correct amount to put on is? and should I just put it on and stick the waterblock on top, or should I spread it on or what?

Rollin
07-18-2002, 09:52 AM
you just need to put a THIN SMEAR on..

get it as thin as posible..all it needs to do is fill in the air gaps between the cpu and block..

I'll have it up and running soon...as I'm currently working on a review and am using the board as part of it for installation purposes:) Hope to be blowing some 3Dmark soon my friends:)

MrIcee.. I have your boards twin :D

just hope i get 1/2 the clock you and OPP get from these..

so far im at 2003hz :toast: 13.5 X 148..

evrything runs fine except 3dmark2001se.it just locks up b4 the 1st splash screen.been playing cs for the last 2 hours with no problems at all..just wont run 3dmark only tested the 29.42 and the 29.80 dets

im just happy to push this puppy past the 2g mark.
temps have dropped for some reason to 31 idle 45 load.

MrIcee

Try this little fix I discovered for locks in 3DMark. You will need to install and set this data with WPCRset:
B0=07

That stopped lockups for me...good luck:)

What is WPCRset and where can I get it?

Abit has my board right now, I am waiting for it's return with the fix to put my XP2200+ to work. I will be going through all of your threads for tips to get the best perfomance possible out of it.

cheers MrIcee :toast:

i allready got Wpcrset install for the hacks to lower my idle temps.
ill give it a try and report back soon..

its 100% stable runnin everything else.

Rollin
07-19-2002, 09:54 AM
MrIcee..the hack didnt work for me..

all i still get when i try to run 3dmark2001se is a black screen,it wont even display the 1st loading screen.

i can press esc and it will exit the prog.so its not lockin up in a way,its just failing to display whats goin on.

the GF4TI4600 is NOT clocked and its set to 4X in bios, side banding is enabled.the only way i can find to diable this,is to use power strip.

the latest via agp driver is installed, even patched XP with the update for the problems with DX8.1 and AMD cpu's.

but still a non runner :(

I have a big problem: with my new 2200+ i can only reach 191mhz fsb when CPU decode is "FAST" and 205mhz at "NORMAL" - with my 1700+ i can get 220mhz (FAST)??

1700+ @217mhz fsb -> http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=3873211

2200+ @191mhz fsb ->http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=3979481

How can i fix this problem??? Is it a problem between KX7 and Tbred?

Sorry for my bad english - i´m from germany :-)

This is a general trend we have been noticing with each new generation of CPUs. The newer the generation, the less agressive one can set the CPU command decode for higher FSB speeds. I am not sure it is "fixable" at the moment and might be the reason why the Epox 8K31+ does not include the ability to change the value since their 2312 bios for stability.

ummm..

thats probly why i keep hitting a brick wall..

just persumed that things would get better and take more aggresive timeings with each new cpu..
