Hey I bought a EK 8800GT full cover Acetal waterblock, and I noticed the copper was stained, and I coudnt wipe the stains away. I then remembered people here saying you have to put some ketchup on it, and so I did, and it works. But my dad doesnt believe it works, so can somebody please explain why ketchup cleans those stains?

Thanks in advance :)

Isn't there vinegar in ketchup? I imagine the acidity breaks up the oxidation or something.

Correct it the small amount of vinegar in there that reacts with the copper and removes the oxided layer. Just remember to clean the block fully after so it's pure and nothing on there

yup vinegary acid! coca-cola probably works too, we used to put pennies in coca-cola overnight when I was little to make them shiny lol.

mild coffee is also highly acidic.... bold coffee isn't nearly as acidic.
