found this article over @ tom's hardware - thought it would be good to look at if you need a new NIC, or want to know how they differ performance-wise. You can read the article HERE (http://www6.tomshardware.com/network/01q3/010820/)(it's a bit long). It also reviews several NICs.

too bad that test is bias! only running 3COM and INTEL server NIC's and not other brands like Linksys and D-link, oh well... good thing I run both 3COM and Linksys and I don't see a diff at all - I tested them with sandra and they came back Identical.

ya, but it has lots of other info in the article as well, that can be applied to other NICs
I need to find one that handles a high FSB.

I felt like doing an epic thread necro, sorry guys :D
It's amazing how far we've come, when this thread was created not many boards had onboard networking. Try buying a board without these days?

yea i've noticed that. not a bad thing overall, but honestly been wondering how things are going with the faster nics these days. 1k v 100. how long before the 1k versions become standard? how much, if any, of a difference it will make.

I was like is this guy trolling or what after looking @ his system specs, then realized this was from almost a decade ago.
