Can i take a external hard drive and make it internal and put it inside my macbook pro? I think it is possible but the form factor has to be 2.5" right? Thank you in advance. I want to do this because I need more hard drive space but i do not want to be carrying around an extra hard drive
As long as it's a SATA drive it should work.

Yeah, just get one from a reputable company, and the correct form factor which you know, and you should be golden. I have a 250 in my MBP that I installed (not the easiest thing to do), and I could not be happier since I did not pay the exorbitant upgrade price that Apple charges.
You might want to consider a 320 for future proofing, and wait for a 500gb one which will be out to market soon. If you don't see it when you reinstall OSX, make sure you prep it in the HD Utility.
Also, if you have a Time Capsule and Time Machine (I just got my Capsule), I believe you can save the image of your current drive and then migrate it fresh to your new HD, but I am not positive and have not had the chance since I am holding out for a 500gb drive.

You can also simply connect your new HD externally and copy everything over to it via Disk Utility's Restore tab.
