Hello all.
Well, I think it's finally time for me to post the pics of my project. It is a work in progress so far... But, with 4 kids, and a wife that limits my 'puter building time, it's hard to find time to just sit and work on it.

Here's what I've got so far, parts and such....
Mountain Mods Duality case, stock panels.
eVGA 680i Mobo
Intel C2D E6850
BFG 8800GTX WC edition x2
4GB OCZ Reaper PC8000

ATi Theater 650
WD 74GB Raptors in RAID 0
WD 400gb HDD
PC Power & Cooling Silencer750
ASUS SilentDrive DVD burners with LightScribe x2
Zalman MFC2 Fan controller x2
ThermalTake media thingy....
Floppy drive/card reader combo

Swiftech MCW 6500 TEC waterblock
Meanwell 320W Aux PSU
EK NB Block
DD Universal for SB
EK Mosfet Blocks part 1&2

One thing to notice in this pic, is I was able to find some screws with black heads. You may other pics with the old SS heads, I think you'll agree the black looks 100times better...

I ended up switching it around...

Also moved the HDD to middle between mobo trays.

I look forward to seeing your MM build! If your in want of more button head socket bolts, check out ACE hardware. They usually carry a few dozen in all the metric and standard sizes. You could always order from McMaster too :)

Found the Mod regarding shortening up the SATA cables... so I thought I'd try it....
Right here I was just a wee bit worried I wouldn't know how to get it back together...
http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r14/breezyjr/PC%20Build/CIMG0772.jpg
But...
http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r14/breezyjr/PC%20Build/CIMG0774.jpg

And how it looks.... Too bad I didn't have any black sleeving... Oh well, it will all be hidden.
http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r14/breezyjr/PC%20Build/CIMG0773.jpg

Onto WB install...
Here's the finished version... Minus the bitspower fitting...
http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r14/breezyjr/PC%20Build/CIMG0752.jpg

Thought this was weird... all the extra TIM I got off the NB and SB...

NB block
http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r14/breezyjr/PC%20Build/CIMG0720.jpg

SB block... I owe Martin210 big time for figuring this out first... If you look close you'll see I had to dremmel off some of the mounting screw hole, and forgo the use of springs. so, I was careful in tightening the screws...

Another View.

For those interested, if you go to martin's site Martinsliquidlab.com and look up the review on the DD universal, you'll see better pics, and better job, and more info on other work arounds.

I also test fitted a third card, and looks like I deleted the pics. But, it looks like I could fit a third GPU in... that was until I switched to the Bitspower fittings...

Done.

Surprised I didn't get any pics of the Mosfet blocks.

Moving on....

SEXY!
http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r14/breezyjr/PC%20Build/CIMG0793.jpg

My Reservoirs are are going to be mounted on the mobo tray.... Think of a "Mad Scientists" laboratory.... There will be the three 250mL res mounted higher up, with the inlet on top so I can loop the tubing back "over" the mobo tray. Then the two outside res's will then "filter" into the smaller 100mL res the to pump. Just purely for bling reasons.... thought it would look kinda cool...
here's kinda of the idea...

I started doing a little plumbing last night. Give you an idea as to the "technicolor" project name.

Mosfet loop, yellow
CPU loop, Green or blue
GPU loop, Blue or green

Thanks to VirtualRain on the techflex sleeving the tubing idea!

That's all I've got so far. I hope to keep this updated... but with the 4 kids and a wife, my time is limited to mostly night time... I started this at 10pm last night, finished at 2:30am, and woke up a 5am with the kids....

Yup, I'm awake today... Just a little caffeine...

breezyjr

also... need help with fillports. I've never used them, so I'm planning on using one of the side inlets, as a fillport connection. Any ideas.

Wow Brezzy!! Your going to town there!!...

I like how your doing the sleezing on the tubing.... pretty, eh... "techni" ;)

One question,
Why use the elbows on the mosfets?? Thats a flow killer right there, and IMO elbows don't look very good. (but thats just my opinion.)
Maybe you could shorten the bends a little? Like from the mosfet to the NB and the NB to the SB?

Just some thoughts!
BTW, so your going to use a side port as a "fillport"??
I thought you were going to use it as a "drainport"?

A. kinda like the look. B. Was running out of space. I'm using thin wall tubing, and it's really different from the thick walled stuff I'm used to using. And, I figure the one won't be a huge deal....

Just some thoughts!

Going to be both. Going to connect a tube that will go up to the top of the case to fill, and then able to be held "down" to drain..... Smart eh? I hope so as it's all I can think of since I really want to keep the tops inlets, and don't want to use Ts. I think You'll see how it works when I finally get the nerve to mount the reservoirs...

Breezyjr...

Lol, breezyjr, you sure we arent related somehow? Im thinking of a similar res solution. hahahaha....

Difference is, im making a second "dummy Mobo tray to hide the PSU, and all cable clutter, and im gonna mount the reservoirs on there with the pumps directly under them or something.

Breezyjr
03-05-2008, 11:01 AM
I'm doing the same. Since I have the two mobo trays already, the PSU's will go in the middle. The res you see above will be mounted to the "viewable" side of the the mobo.... the right side so to speak.

That's pretty weird... Great minds think alike...

i got my mobo on left and res on right. been working on my case too, and atm my hands are shaking from extended use of dremel to smooth out some edges.
Due to my big fan in the middle window, im gonna have to grind some of the 5 1/4" drive bays. think like 3-5mm will be enough. that way it wont be too obvious.

Hard part though is finding a Grill/filter for a 200mm fan. lol. custom made is probably the way to go :(

Did you find the fittings tight on this top? I tried them last night, and the top port was really really really hard to screw in the BP fitting. Was yours like that?

Trying to remember... Did it last week at 1am... so brain, already a bit foggy due to advanced age...... but add a late night....

I really don't remember it being all that difficult. It was more difficult to line the threads up, if I recall. I seem to remember, especially oon the EK res, it was real easy to cross thread them....

My trick, Maybe everyone does it, is I like to turn them "left" first, kind of line up the threads, after a turn to the left, then back to the right to tighten, and that seems to work more often than not....

Thanks for the kind works. My wife actually took all four kids to the mall, so I think I'm going to go sneak some work in!!!

Amazing job. I really like the yellow sleeving in the tubing. The elbows on the MOSFET waterblocks are going to wreck havoc on the flow rate in that loop.

I think it's a sticky in the mod forum here. Try a search for it. There's lots of pics.

Honestly, it took me a week to finally decide to do it. I was so worried I'd screw it up.

But, actually it was easy. Once you figure out what type of connector you have, mine actually had one of the easier push it type connectors, it's easy.

Thanks... That's exactly what I was thinking.

I'm using using a 80mm mini rad on this loop.... GASP>

But, I'll keep an eye on temps, if they get to high, I throw in a 120 rad of some sort. But, at this point in time, I'm not too worried. I think it'll work just fine.

Yes, EK 100mL... and no the anti cyclone doesn't fit. Which is one of the reason I came up with the whole big res to litttle res thingy.

And, thanks to everyone for their comments. This is my first build, in which I'm actually taking me time. in the past, I'd throw something together in a few days, then try to think about cable routing and such. This one has taken me about a month so far, and while I"m going crazy missing out on playing "CRYSIS" I'm having fun trying to build something I'll be proud to show off.

Breezyjr
03-06-2008, 03:10 AM
Forgot to ask.
I have 6 LEDs for the XSPC tops, and I realized I have no idea where to connect them...???? I thought I could use the thingy that comes with CCFL lights, but a quick look does appear the connector on the LED is correct. I'd also like to Connect all the LED to ONE connector... is this going to be a problem?
Is there a thread somewhere that describes how I can connect the LEDs?

Also, with the DDC pumps, since I'm not worried about RPM sensing, can I just cut off the Blue RPM wire?

Also, thinking about connecting all the Pump power connectors to one, again, is this a problem?

Thanks in advance!

breezy, where are you putting your third radiator? or is there only gonna be 2 rads?

I'm using a small 80mm rad I'm going to put on the back plate of the "other" mobo tray. I know this may be a problem as far as temps go, but I'm going to keep an eye on temps, if they get too high, I'll swap in a 120 rad of some sort. I have a both a 120.2 and a 120.1. But, the 80mm is all about ease of installation right now.

As an absolute last resort, I'll take out the 120.3 rad for the GPU loop, replace it with a 120.2, then add a 120.1 to the front panel... Do you all think the 120.2 is still good enough for the dual 8800GTX?

breezyjr

[XC] NetburstXE
03-06-2008, 03:26 AM
A 120.2 will be fine for dual 8800GTX cards. An 80mm rad would work for the MOSFETs, Northbridge, and Southbridge, but I'd personally go for a 120.1 so I could get better temps. I believe in extreme overkill.

barfastic
03-06-2008, 03:40 AM
breezy, since u already have the second mobo plate. why dont you get in contact with MM and order a pa120.2 acrylic backplate.
and with some modding/dremel you could leave the mobo tray and fit the acrylic back piece.

ill be posting pics of it soon on my worklog, it looks real nice too.
just a FYI they dont have it listed in there products, but if you contact them through mail or phone they should be able to hook you up with one.

Breezyjr

So I got ahold of Mountain Mods.... Going to have them make up a blank acrylic piece, I'll use it if I have to.
Decided I'd go with the dual 80mm rad. Forgot I had enough room for it... which I believe is relatively the same as a 120.1...... If you think of it purely on fan size it's 160mm (80mmx2) vs 120mm.... so in theory it would seem the dual would slightly outperform the single 120.... Just my theory, don't know if it is the actual reality or not....

Ordered so more goodies today... yippee... Took care of my fillport problem... And, since I already went to THIRTY bitspower fittings, ordered a few more of those as well.......

breezyjr

barfastic
03-06-2008, 01:21 PM
i like the bitspower fittings but meh, if i can only get 1 on each block then whats the point. u know? :S

More parts? gief pics or links :P

About the 2x80 outperforming a 120, maybe, but then again, the rad is also a bit bigger, but i think it comes down to what fans u use. if u use somehting like 2 40cfm fans, or 1 88cfm fan, considering they both are by the same brand, etc etc etc, then i think the single will outperform the dual. and it wont take up so much space.

Im trying to get ahold of some Blank MM red bay covers, but none of the european resellers have them in stock. sucks to be me :(
