what kind of OC can i expect

i picked up some cheap parts to upgrade off s754 finally. i plan a opty DC or X2 3800+ in the future but for now i have a DFI infinity ultra, 3000+ venice, 2x1GB of DDR400 (does 667 3-4-4-8), and a XFX 8600GTS XXX (picked it all up for ~$70 and a s478 rig :D)

the cpu will be cooled by a gemini II and some low speed 120mm fans, the NF4 chipset will be custom cooled by whatever HS i can fit on it, the 8600GTS will be vmodded and custom cooled by a sA HSF and some cut up HS.

anyone have some ideas what i can get out of this rig?

say hello to 3ghz :) do 333*9 :) and run ur ram 1:1 with mal on 8 or 7

according to who i purchased them from he took them up to 333 3-4-4-8 easily so i will find out when they arrive i think its TCCD so it should do 342 just fine i might have to loosen to 3-4-4-12 though

hold on you have 10x multi on the cpu right? 320 x 10 is good too :)

That requires a strong memory controller too. My old DDR1 could only do 245 1t, but could go up to 320 with 2t... Weak memory controller. Maybe higher if my IMC didnt suck so bad.

no, i think 2t is not a result of imc, just the sticks themselves. unless in another cpu you could do 320 1t, then it was DEFINATELY imc. cuz 320 1t is crazy.

nope its only a 9x i wish it was 10x :roll:


i might grab a 3400+ venice (for $35 :D) too and just use whichever chip oc's the best

the ram i'm using the clawhammer C0 has a weak controller so lower timings are possible just not with this chip

ended up selling it my gf's parents but i oc'd it when i gave it to them 3ghz on a AMD HSF :clap:
