Well, I'm taking the dive into water cooling, and the last thing I really need to pull together is do I need some sort of water treater, and can I use just tap water, or should I use distilled?

So I guess what I'm asking is what liquid(s) do I need for my cooling...

well, I think you'd be ok for a while without them, but sooner or later you'll need something. Also, DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Go distilled, otherwise you could get some build up in your system.

Well, if I am going to need something sooner or later, I wanna do it now. What do I need? :D

water wetter, purple ice, any of the water additives. I'd just get waterwetter.

Any difference between Water Wetter, Purple Ice, etc., or just the name and color?

There is, but they perform about the same. And do the same thing, so just get whatever is cheaper.

Or that's what I've heard anyway.

anti freeze is also a useful solution

cheap, available everywhere, and wont leave residue on your tubes like water wetter

I've done a bit of reading, and it almost seems like besides water wetter, I should add something to fight against like bacteria or algee build up too...Is water wetter enough, or will I need to add something else as well?

They smell Weasel so you better not have open air system :(

As long as you are not going down to sub freezing temps, you can use just about anything that will inhibit critters from growing in that nice warm (distilled) water. Even a spot of dish soap will work...not too much unless you want to blow bubbles. Think about it, anything that will kill the critters will work...and just enough to do the job and not take away from the heat transferance of the H20. :D

So a good mix of distilled water and water wetter, plus a drop of dish soap = good mix for h20 system?

Don't need both...just distilled h20 and the WW will work fine.:D
The WW will inhibit algae.

I thought about getting the Swiftech MCW50-T, but I'm not ready to deal with pelts yet. This is my first water cooling rig, so I'm taking it one step at a time.

I don't think I missed anything. Oh yeah, using distilled water and water wetter.
