Hi

I just brought a Lian Li V1000 + watercooling kit for a good price.

There is D5 in the watercooling kit and some other fair components.

Well i gonna sell my current case and some of my watercooling gear.

I probably gonna keep the D5 - but i really like the current 8/10 mm pushON (compressions) hose 'n' fittings i got atm

So i would like hear / see if somebody have tried using smaller hose than 12 mm on the D5 which has 12 mm barbs as we all know

I think there was a thread on this recently, see the 2nd page for a partictularly interesting solution. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=176620&highlight=bitspower

Thx

Okay there is the fuzzy one here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=72154&stc=1&d=1202685349

And the tapped one ? http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=72255&stc=1&d=1202830464

Found a peice of plastic 8 to 12 mm http://vcore.dk/shop/adapter-12-til-867p.html <- probably the easiet way.

Or else i should just keep the DDC i have now and sell the D5

The first solution was most certainly not the one I was referring to. Tapping the pump for g1/4 seems like a really elegant solution if you just cut down the plastic inlet and outlet "barbs" to keep the length and height of the pump down.

The reducer you mentioned would certainly be an easy fix, yet not partictularly sexy.

Yep tappering it - would make the best outcome... But since me and tools dosn't really fit together, then i going to consider selling / plastic adapters

is there a guide to tapping my D5, I'd like to tap G1/4" threads into it but I'm afraid of screwing up the pump.

Would you be able to post some pictures of the tapping process please?

Great solution on the D5 BP-Vincent, must give that a go today

Just wondering if any testing had been done with regard to flow rate with 3/8" barbs as appose to 1/2"

Sorry..no..
Our D5 now are all ready for using G1/4" fittings..:)

more head a lil less flow going the tapping route. with the inlet should be larger then outlet so not to cavitate pump

I don't think you can go much bigger than G1/4 on either tbh but i've got a couple on the operating table now so will see.

You thinking G3/8 on the inlet and G1/4 on the outlet??

Coolermeister, I would be really interested to know how your attempt at threading these things turns out. Seems like the kind of thing that somebody like Petra could offer, although reducing the length on the plastic barbs would likely be a pain.

Was a breeze tbh but all credit to BP-Vincent, just don't know why didn't do it before:shrug:

I did find some differences in ID size - i have a few of the Norvl 1/2" OD threaded D5's here and noticed the ID is 13.3mm as appose to the normal D5 which is 10mm so it would easily take a G3/8 barb.

Opens up a whole new can of worms for Martin to get on the test bed;)

coolmiester,

Did you happen to take a few more pictures of this proscess?

I always enjoyed your work logs which were the inspiration to get going on my first wavemaster years ago.

You should really make some D5 tops with G1/4" thread - you would make a fortune doing that :D

Well i would buy one ^_^

I would echo this sentiment, aside from Thermochill rads pretty much every quality WC component is threaded G1/4". The G1/4" seals better, and there are many high quality G1/4" barbs already in the market, G3/8" options are much more limited.

You don't want that top, it kills the pressure.
