I had a post up here over a month ago about my 6400X2 and my K9a2....was doing 3.6ghz but the mobo was showing I was in single channel so I thought it was the mobo so I bought another K9a2 so I could rma the first one to MSI I install everything and its still in single channel.......I guess I killed the memory controller or part of it on the cpu?? is this possible?? should I get another 6400 X2?? or a Phenom to try out?? or chuck everything and go E8500 when they finally get here??

Now I get about about 7000 mb/s

The memory shows up also as 2x1gb....it just wont run in dual channel

Is one stick dead?

Have you even checked for defective DIMMs?

What are you using to read the memory?
If I use Everest trial version it shows as having 3 sticks installed. (I have four)
If I use AOD it shows it as 4 sticks in single channel
CPU-Z reports all 4 sticks correctly and running in dual channel as it should

Try cpuz 1.44.1 and see what that shows.

Did this happen after a bios flash?

using dimm 1 and 2 together or 3 and 4 together utilize dual channel on this mobo, whether I use the first 2 or the second 2 its alway single channel.

there you go. run two instances, max size. hours on end without errors means the sticks are fine.

Or run it from Tmod's CD. I'm sure there are others that have it as well...

Hey thanks for that info, but I have read that little info package and I have the memtest file but no where in that info does it actually say how to start memtest up......It uses phrases like "when running memtest" and "if you run memtest" but doesnt show me what to do:shrug: ........sorry, but how do I start the program.:shakes:

 works for me. substitute "all unused ram" by 700-800mb, depending on how much is already in use by windows etc. (too much will just go page filing)
