Have revised the dates to avoid clashing with WCG bunny race and April project runs.

Revised dates......24th-31st March.

Hope you guys can put a lil something into it :)

Oh, and it wouldn't hurt your vault standing to add a lil ;)

I'm definitely in on this challenge as long as I don't forget about it. I'll have the 4ghz Q6600 on it and at least one of the other Q6600s on it too.

This is a very good project and worthy of XS's attention. Your participation is appreciated.

ps. I'll be by to see the team later this year.

What Mike said..........I'll be swinging by too at some point :)

If you need any motivation to join the challenge for a week, just check your team ranking :p: :D

When does the challenge start?
Not that I could do very much....:wasntme:

The thing I don't like about this project is that if there are 15 WUs with the same deadline, it will start all 15 and have them all in the ram/PF, which makes the computer very slow if it isn't a dedicated cruncher.

I have not had this happen on any of my boxes, could you give me a little more information on the issue. My boxes have always run only a number of wu's that correspond to the number of cores.

It will go down through the list of WUs with the same deadline, starting each one for ~10 seconds, then pausing it and going to the next one with the same deadline, until it has put them all into ram/pf.

So only 4 WUs will be running, while the other 11 are stored in ram/PF. So I'll have about 30mb of ram free with 5gb of PF used.

WOW, I've never seen this. Have you tried "resetting" the project.

Ady will be by eventually and may have an explanation to it's cause. He and Vaio are far more knowledgeable than I about Boinc.

Please don't let this glitch stop you from supporting this project, it is good science.

Never had that issue with Poem.
Have seen it with other projects but never with Poem.

Right now I have about 40 units with the same date....and it just routinely completes one at a time.(though right now I'm on WCG).

My boinc manager is 5.10.30.

Have you tried a different boinc manager version?

Hi Mike :)

Hi Mike :)

I'm using the 64-bit 5.10.30 client in XP Pro x64.

Sure i'll lend all 4 of my cores for the week, but we also need help at SETI@home we're currently ranked 2008th place maybe i should start a week of SETI after this lol.

Someone remind me a couple days before and I'm in..
If all goes well I will have some new equipment up and running by then that might be able to make a little dent in the numbers..
Anyone ever run a 35,000mhz machine on POEM before...or two of them? :wasntme:

I've been running POEM on all my rigs for some time now, including some with the 64bit client and have never had this problem you are having - in fact apart from one bad batch of WU's its been incredibly stable.

The only thing I can suggest is re-setting the project and if that don't work then re-installing Boinc

One of the nice things about the new boinc version it is that it places projects on high priority and lets them rip without problems.

DragonOrta: Isn't there also a BOINC preference setting for whether it will pause resident or pause to file? Glad it's working OK after the reset.
