Hey ppls!

You guys probably remember my XETM worklog eh? (Click link in sig)

Well guess who won the place for the SLI Rig Of The month - January :D

http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_rotm_january08.html

PS: They screwed up on 2 things tho... If you look @ all the pics, they uploaded a picture of my old rig... It's the first one up the row. There is no SLI, a different mobo (P5B Deluxe) etc... I really wonder how they got a hold of that pic. I never sent it!

And second, in the question "What was the toughest/biggest problem..." At some place i say "The first one I had bought from a friend, he had an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 running at 4GHz, worked perfectly fine but only for the first few boots."

Well, we should read "The first one I had bought from a friend, which he had an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 running at 4GHz on it, worked perfectly fine but only for the first few boots."

Here are some Full-sized pics only for you XSers :p:

Can't believe i made it up to the SLI Rig Of The Month! Years ago, i saw a MM case posted as the SLI Rig Of The Month... It had watercooling and it quickly became my dream PC. Without knowing it, that image stayed in my mind and i built my own dream PC with it in mind Lol!

Awesome job Patriote!!

I love the colors of coolant!
What mixture did you use for Green? And what mixture for Blue?

Hi m8!

First, thanks all! Really appreciate it!

I answered this coolant question so many times in so many of my threads...LOL

Anyway so yeah, it's a mixture of a little bit more than 1L of distilled water, 5-6 drops of Petra's Nuke, a few % of Zerex (2-3), half a bottle of Alien Green D-Tek's dye (For the green coolant) and same for the blue coolant except that it's half a bottle of D- Tek's Visible blue.

That's my coolant mixture :)

@ Nate P. : Well, I can do that on my comp too but doing that on such a such a small lil thing is so cool! + I can connect to the net practically everywhere on that iPod since it's also WI-FI :)

I am typing to you guys on my iPod Touch ATM, so cool Lol!

What was the toughest/biggest problem you had to overcome while building your rig?
My biggest problem for this build was with my EVGA 680i A1 motherboard. I've went through 2 of them before finding one that wouldn't die on me or would do what I want it to do. The first one I had bought from a friend, he had an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 running at 4GHz, worked perfectly fine but only for the first few boots. Then a PCI-Express slot died and I couldn't do SLI anymore. So I bought a new one but unfortunately it was dead-on-arrival. So I waited for my friend to RMA the first board I've had... My build was on hold for 2 weeks. When it arrived from the manufacturer I loaded the P31 Bios and everything has been working just fine! I also had another rather weird problem with the new motherboard. Sometimes when the screws that retain my Water-Blocks to the motherboard are too tight, the motherboard refuses to boot. I would get "- -" on the LEDs and that's it. Imagine all the time I spent on trying to figure out what was causing the motherboard not to boot...heh.

Heh, I think someone at Nvidia is either being extremely honest, or they didn't quite skim the replies thoroughly...:D

Congrats dude, you ve got one hell of killer rig. At least EVGA can throw in an 8800Gt or a 780i for your next bulid.

Oh yeah, i met him in the evening yesterday Heh. I gave him a bottle of G11 for free :) He needed one for his build and i was the only one on HWC that had one and that actually lived close... So i told him that if he could meet me @ the Terminuss, I'd give him the bottle for free

It was a pain to find him tho. There is like 3-4 exit for that Terminuss. Lol.

Anyway, he looked like a great guy. I'm just glad i could help someone :)

Patriote
11-14-2008, 06:39 PM
Lol guys :D

Yeah man, still running it. It has been running strong since a year! I didn't even touched it since that time. I did nothing! No modifications. Didn't had time ... My new Girlfriend took a huge place in my life around the end of my XETM project last year... Lol.

The tubes are nasty as hell tho. The green ones looks like a rusty orange and the blue ones lost all of there UVness*. + There is a lot of dust inside the case and on the components. I cleaned the comp pretty much every weeks since i finished the build but i haven't cleaned it since 2 months now...Lol. Oh and the temps have raised quite a bit. IDLE : 43c 43c 34c 38c ... Pretty nasty compared to the original temps!

But soon ppls! Soon!

I'll give you a little hint of my up-coming project!

Yes, you heard right! I taped my Girlfriend's mouth and and decided to start a new project :D This time i won't be changing the hardware tho. I moved with my Girlfriend into apartment and have way much more bills then when i used to live with the mom and father in law... Lol!

http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff168/Xtreme_Patriote/PINNACLE18_pic2.jpg

The project will consist of re-doing all my stuff in a Black Wrinkle Pinnacle 18! + I'll be changing a few things while I'm at it.

I'm probably going to hook sound matting all around the case to give it a nice look and reduce noise a bit. I'll be using only one of my custom Fan controllers and get 2 identical LG DVD burner. + Sleeve some more stuff and change some cables.

I'll be changing the reservoirs for some Swiftech's MCRES Rev.2

I'll be getting a Swiftech GTZ CPU Block.

I might switch to Tygon 1/2" ID 3/4" OD Tubing.

I'll be changing the color theme inside the case to Gold and Steel Blue.

And finally, I'll be changing all fans and grills + some other things.

If i could, i would get some GTX 280s, a 790I Ultra mobo, a DDR3 ram kit and a new 45nm CPU. But i can't! I still have around 1500$ on my credit card to clear from last XETM build... The Girlfriend and apartment are taking all my money...

But i just can't hold it for a new build with new stuff. I have a little $$$ free and decided that a look change would be cool :D Anyway, my current hardware is still kicking butts. I can run all games currently out pretty much maxed out at 1920x1200. I'll quit smoking and use the money from it to start a new build with new hardware when I'll be able for sure. I might have not been active a lot last year but i didn't lost my passion for computing. And the Girlfriend won't make me loose it like she tried to since we are together... :shakes:

Later guys!

So glad this thread was resurrected ... actually I just reviewed it again last week as I'm working on my 2nd MM build.

I'm really happy to hear that you and your girlfriend are still together and you're doing well (remember guys - I'm a gal, so it's okay for me to be more concerned with the personal saga than the PC ;)).

Looking forward to your new build/rebuild!

Heh Thanks Shazza!

Yeah, we are still together! On November 24th, it'll make a year. I'm preparing something special for her on that day but shhhh! She doesn't know! We went through a lot of bad things on that year. I almost left her... But i guess that if we are still together after ALL that, it's that we really love each other. She still has to learn some things about me tho. In times, it'll come.

Good luck on your second MM build! I'll be sure to check it out!
