I am curious if these are the same barb.

http://www.petrastechshop.com/ekhifig3th1o.html

http://www.mountainmods.com/thermochill-g38-bsp-oring-sealing-12-fitting-p-436.html

One says BSPP (Petra's) and the other BSP (MountainMods). Is there a difference? I wouldn't know what it is and want to make sure I don't order the wrong one. Or did someone just typo potentially?

And last question...the websites say they are for the Thermochill rads, but can anyone vouch for how well they work or if they like them or not?

Thanks

No they aren't the same barb but I'd venture to guess the ones from Petra's are better. I've heard the ones from mountainmods are slightly smaller than 1/2"

The ones from EK are going to be larger than the ones from Mountain Mods. The o-ring sealing "Thermochill" barbs are not actually supplied by Thermochill (I found this out after we had been carrying them for months...).

The real thermochill barbs are as pictured on our website.

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=25389&vpn=63018&manufacture=Thermochill

They seal with teflon tape and they're actually quite nice compared to the o-ring sealing "Thermochill" ones.

Linus, the description says single barb, yet a multi barb is pictured. Could you clarify plz?

Don't trust pics, trust the description and NCIX sell them individually.

I can't say for sure if there is a difference between them.
I would venture to guess there is.

What I can tell you is that we import them directly from Thermochill - http://thermochill.com/acatalog/thermochill_accessories.html

We also import the other ones from Thermochill -
http://www.mountainmods.com/thermochill-38-bsp-nickelplated-barbs-p-437.html
These require the plumbers tape.

I can also tell you there is a difference in the inner diameter of the 2 barbs mentioned above as I just took a caliper to the two.

The one with the O-ring is 10.6mm opening.
The one without O-ring is 11mm opening.

Just FYI.

Please note that the proper fittings for Thermochill's are G3/8". This means that O-rings are a must. If you use any other type fitting, you risk leaks.

kohlersc, Personally, I'd use the EK's from Petra's.

I have all the barbs mentioned. Thermochill o-ringed 1/2", Thermochill taped 3/6", AquaXtreme G3/8 1/2"OD no longer available but replaced from PTS by EK G3/8 1/2".
These will all work when properly used.
The exception seems to be an o-ringed 1/2" marketed as from TC but undersize.

Got 2 pairs of these and found that they're too loose for 1/2" ID tygons :shakes:
They seemed to work with 3/8" hose instead but I'm not willing to change all my tubes so I didn't do a real test.

I've since given up and ordered the EK's version to try instead.

Didn't know Mountainmod had it too...looked like the old AquaEx's version?

The two you have are not the o-ring 1/2" barbs Thermochill sell. I have them and they're not a loose fit with 1/2" Tygon.

Personally, I'd use the EK's from Petra's.
I got a pair, top quality and a perfect fit for 1/2in. tubing and no trouble at all for 7/16in. True 1/2in. in other words.

And they can be drilled out to about 12.5mm... :)
