I have an Unlocked 2200+ Tbred, 2 X 256 Samsung DDR333, and an Abit KX7-333 Rev 1.0 mobo with the latest bios (kx79k).
i would like to know what are the best setting (CPU, MEM,...) to use for my setup to make it run at peak performance.
i've already read that underclocking to 12.5 multiplier is one of the settings used by kx7 owners to make their mobo boot up.
which makes sense because whenever i set the mult to ">=13" my system would reboot fine but would not cold boot. i would have to discharge the the cmos to get it to boot again and when it does it always boot at 1500Mhz.
thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I think what you are after is running a high FSB and a low multiplier for overall fastest system performance. If you can run your system in the 190s with cas2 2,5,2 T1 timeings your in great shape as far as speed.

I have a similar problem:

Whenever I set the FSB >166MHz and the divider to 5:2:1 it refuses to cold boot.

I have tried almost all combinations of settings (mem timings, voltages and such), but with no luck. I have to run below 166MHz with 4:2:1 to be able to boot.

Is my 300W Chieftec PSU to blame? I do have quite a few things in there (see sig).

First thing I would do is update the BIOS it may make a huge difference.

My KX7 will cold-boot with the settings in my sig no problem. I've even cold-booted into Windows at 215MHz+ fsb with no problems, but I can't run 3dMark over 200 because my gfx card can't handle the overclocked AGP bus. :(

I'm on the B6 bios linked to above.

As for mem/bios settings, see "How to tweak my ABIT MAX boards for good performance? (AT7 / KX7-333)" (http://www.abit.com.tw/abitweb/webjsp/english/faq_letter.jsp?pDate=2002%2F05%2F15&pQUESTION=How+to+tweak+my+ABIT+MAX+boards+for+good +performance%3F+%28AT7+%2F+KX7-333%29) on ABit's own site. But I wouldn't bother enabling APIC like they say, you get no performance gain and lots of problems.
