A HD3870 and HD3850 crossfired. maybe you can cause they have the same GPU? I heard about this before but Ive never really seen it. they say it as fast as 2 hd3870 crossfired. the HD3750 is a cheaper option than having two HD3870s. I cant wait to put all my old ati cards together and crossfire them:D .

hope u have a 1,000 watt p\s or better:yepp: plus i get 10,700 in 3dmark06 on my bone stock 8800gtx single card...vs (2) heavily overclocked 3850,s in xfire at 10,300...
plus the fact that ati is simply so buggy vs simple sli setups its unreal, many ppl have multiple issues.(2) $225 8800gts in sli will crush the atis setups.

Euh?? I get about +17800 3dmark06 with my 3850's in xfire. 3850's at stock, E6600@3.7 Ghz. http://service.futuremark.com/resultComparison.action?compareResultId=4147342&compareResultType=14
Never had issues or anything like that. You sound a little like an nvidia adept.

lol? Crossfire has been scaling better than SLI as of late. Take the nVidiot fanboy garbage elsewhere, railmeat.

hope the gtx beats those or it would be a sad day. Those can be had at around $190 cad so $380 total gtx $450.

3DMark05/06 are CPU limited with only 2.3GHz Phenom.

Look at 3DMark03 to see CF scaling :)

Hahaha, ''Nvidiot'' :ROTF:

Obviously we all knew it was possible to run HD 3870 and 3850 in crossfire, Also ive seen benchmarks with HD3870+hd2900/x1950PRO

But now the drivers official supports it, nice  hope AMD gets their drivers real good, and maybe a better or larger dev-team

Lol, you only get 10,700 with an GTX? hahaahah
That's really low, but i guess nVidiots dont have much knowledge about computers in general.

nvidiots are to busy patting each other on the back.....
they compete to misinterpret results in nvidias favour and then gang up on unsuspecting consumers who point out the truth...

I run 11,500 with CPU at 3.55 on a single 3850. 10,300 on CF does not make sense, and you do not need a 1000 watt PSU to run 2 38x0 boards.

Obviously we all knew it was possible to run HD 3870 and 3850 in crossfire.......

Actually. I had no idea. good to know.

Hmm, the guy in fudzilla seems doesnt know what they're doing. Funny though they claim that only with 8.1 Cat mixed CF can be done. And They put 2 bridges to connect 38xx series? what they were thinking?...38xx only need 1 bridge since the second notch is to connect the 3rd/4rth card

Anyway, I already did mixed CF since december. Even with 7.11 mixed CF can be done but only 4 synthetic bench not gaminig

It is well known you can run crossfire with 2 differend cards :) Thats why Crossfire is superior to SLI.

sli is always improving .. cf has to be turned off sometimes for better perf .... imo sli is better. in cross fire or in sli just know that ur cards are only as fast as the slowest card. so it's like you'll have two 3850's

I think AMD/ATI are doing pretty well recently with there graphics cards. What I find more interesting is there cards are priced well, cheep even imo.

Maybe slightly off topic but has anyone tested 2 3850/3870's in CF against a single 3870 x2?

Is CF worth doing now the x2 is here?

Thats false, crossfire is more advanced. In crossfire the fastest card calculates the most pixels, and the slowest less.
So

Card 1(fast) calculates 10.000 pixels
Card 2(slow) calculates 4.000 pixels
combined 14.000 pixels.

Also the better thing of crossfire is, that the texture memory per card is independent, so you can have 512mb+256mb.

SLI only can operate when both cards have OR use the same amount of memory. So if you have SLI With 1x256 and 1x512, both cards will only use 256mb each!

The only downside of crossfire is that not many games support it, and SLI gets supported more. Too bad, crossfire is a very good technology... this is the only downside.

I only had a brief taste of Crossfire with my 3870's that got ditched by a w/c leak...but even on my 16/4x P35, they ran like a champ. If I felt the need to invest in a dual card set up, AMD/ATi makes the most sense. It's really all that AMD/ATi has right now in the enthusiast market, so you can be guaranteed that they are putting huge emphasis on driver development.

CN :)I have. With 3870 and Gecube Xturbo 3850 512. Compared 2 X2 basically they're at the same level. But interesting in World in Conflict at 1280 X2 5 fps slower than the CF, but at higher res X2 pulls ahead.

From my opinion, as long as amd provide us better driver or at least the one that suport quad GPU, X2 is worth enough.

I dont think so.Nvidia divided 1st and 2nd pcie calculation at MCH and ICH separately, unlike CF that both handled by MCH alone so the latency in CF is smaller than SLI

As long as nvidia keep doing this, or at least find a way to minimize the latency, SLI scaling will never be better than CF

I wonder if 5x/6x crossfire is physically possible. It would be horribly pointless

3870x2
3850
3850
3870x2

But would it work?

Huh????? Nvidiot FTL???

My 3870 gets 11617 @ stock speeds:

Pwned?

Theres something wrong with the scores on this article, two 3800 cards should get 15-18k on 3Dmark 06.

Or is the CPU bottleneck of the Phenom just that bad?

in some games SLI and CF still have 'jittering' issues due to bad frame timing, no?

i know it was like this in Crysis with SLI until a recent driver, and Crysis has been released for how long? pretty pathetic i will stay away from both multi-gpu camps until i see improvement (which will probably be for a long time still to come)
