Ars Technica is reporting that the College Opportunity and Affordability Act passed through the House today with a vote of 354-58 and the anti-P2P provision is intact. That provision would require universities to filter P2P and to offer legal alternatives. They are claiming now, though, that universities would not lose federal funding if they fail to do this. Of course, an amendment that would have clarified that was withdrawn immediately after it was offered

Dammit, I get throttled for watching videos online and such already, much less p2p. This is getting ridiculous. Pretty soon unless I'm looking at a website with a .edu ending, I'm going to get 56k speeds.

college without :banana::banana::banana: leads to further promiscuity and drinking and thus worse grades. If only this worked the same way for most women....

this will just force college students in the US to use secureix or hotspotshield or any other free vpn type service.

This is why companies are hiring foreigners instead of US kids. Because your grades suck cause your too busy licking the LCD screen and whining about it when its taken away.

Heh - i had to deal with university internet that had everything barring ports 80 and 21 blocked. No bittorrent, no IRC, nothing other than internet and msn messenger (even that had to be moaned about to get the port unblocked).

From what i understand - most universities that make use of SuperJANET do the same thing, to prevent the misuse of bandwidth and reduce liability...

If you want un-filtered internet access, go live off campus :/
