Greetings,

New (upgraded) 780i with 4gb Corsair 8500C5D... One pair was purchased over a year ago version 1.1 Micron D9's... they have always run at 1066 2.2v 5-5-5-15 2t... STOCK no isuues!

I get a second pair version 4.1 and when run by themselves they run with no issues as the first set STOCK...

When I put the 2 pairs together... They won't run over 800... and SLI mode is "not detected"...

I've run mem test on both pairs... no issues

I've installed the Vista hotfix for the 4gb thing... no blue screens or freezes... If I try to boot with all 4 sticks at 1066... it boots to safe mode only! @ 800 it boots fine...

I've double checked voltage (2.2v)

I've reset the CMOS

This is also whether the CPU is OC'd or not...

Bad board? or bad RAM?

any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds like the board to me. Have you tried raising the voltage to the memory controller?

Some numbers form my current system settings:

multi is 8x
FSB 1600
@3.2 ghz
CPU is at 1.425
FSB 1.4
SPP 1.45
MCP 1.525
HT 1.35

timings are at 5-5-5-15 2t @2.2 volts

I have been able to get all four sticks up to 1000

any other ideas?

I have gotten a couple replies that I should RMA the older pair so that I have all 4 sticks are the same revision... any merit to that???

thanks

I can't authorize an RMA to match revisions. But, contact customer service and see if they can assist you.

Thanks Yellowbeard...

But I doubt it's the ram... I've jacked up voltage everywhere and nothing changes... Change the fsb and multi... still the same thing... it will not boot at 1066 using all four sticks (PERIOD). Either pair by them selves will boot at 1066+ no problem...

Right now they are running at 1000 no problem... gona wait and see what evga has to say about it and maybe the next bios update.

Thanks

That makes sense to me. Let me know how it goes. Just curious, since you are stuck at 1000, I wonder if you can do CAS4?

Hrmm... You tighten the timing to 4-4-4-12 2t?

I'll give it a try...

thanks

Just curious, did you have any luck with CAS4 at DDR1000?

No... I tried a couple different settings but no luck... I never changes the voltage either.

It would boot at 5-5-5-15 (stock)
but not at any combination down to 4-4-4-12 2t

no luck!

I can get the CPU oc'd higher and stable up to 3.4 will good temps (custom WC'ing) but the memory (4gb) WILL NOT go above 1000...

For what it's worth, I have the same problem with my Maximus Formula - 2x v1.2 and 2x v4.2. Tried everything and can't get past DDR2-1000 with all four sticks. Will try a Bios update from 0602 to 0907 tonight...

Nvidia chipsets are extremely picky with ram. From my experience, if you're going 4 doublesided memory modules on nVidia chipsets, it will most likely cause problems.
