d-tek fuzion with nozzles or ek supreme, a mcr320, a mcw60, a bunch of barbs, hoseclamps, ramsinks and thermal paste, 3 yate loons, the Martin Tline, a mcw-30 and a laing d5/mcp 655 vario or mcp-355 with top

With a 3870x2, it's almost impossible to keep under the budget because you either need 2 GPU blocks + ramsinks or a full cover. This alone bring the budget into the 150$ range easily. Beside this, Boogerlad'S suggestion is great.

Ya its definitely tough keeping it within that budget with an x2.

On thing to keep in mind, is if you use an mcw30 on your nb, then you are going to have to almost redo your chipset/mosfet cooling since its all one piece, that should be considered in the budget as well.

And Xilikon are there any gpu only blocks that fit comfortably on the x2? I thought most of them were having issues fitting?

No block I know yet. The MCW60 doesn't seem to fit perfectly (the holes is spaced a bit shorter than the MCW60 mounting holes so the bolts doesn't line up straight). Even with GPU-only blocks, we are talking about 50-60$ each + 30-40$ on ramsinks, which make a full cover much more convenient to use.

Your other choice is to skip the x2 and get 2x 3870 in crossfire with a MCW60 block on each. Same expense but at least, you don't have mounting headache and if you are waiting for the 9800, I suggest waiting to see the new cards get released and ask back.

Ya ok just checking on the two block thing.

Full cover never hurts, can lack in performance a bit but the other options on these dual gpu cards are never all that great.

lol....

The gpu block is 150 as xilikon states.

But now that you have 2 gpus + Cpu heating up, a single large radiator wont cut it.

You need to dual loop it, unless your looking at just silence.
