my dvd optical is not being recognized

did a fresh install of vista home 32 , on a dell xps 210 desktop, and all went well, but in my computer, the dvd drive is not showing, or in device manager.
i googled it and found many probs, but no answers to correct this issue...

any ideas on how to fix this?

when i put in a dvd or cd, it does nothing...
cable is fine, and its getting power/......please help!!!

got it all fixed...it was a problem with upper filters....

i am surprised no one ran into this issue...
