lol. I saw this one on Ken Rockwell.. Rediculous lense. There is no way B&H will sell the one they have.

but this sigma lense is my favorite. It looks like a rocket launcher, has its own Li-On battery pack and dedicated LCD.

couple of other crazy lenses I can recall.

nikons 1200 - 1700 mm F5.6 to F8 lense.
costs $95,000 to make, is custom order, and order will be filled 6 months after placed.
its a lenses specifically made for baseball photographers.

Nikons 2000mm Mirror lense.
roughly the size of a garbage can.
never looked into the price or anything though.

Mamiya had a 1000mm F5.6 6x7 lense about 20 years ago, but its nearly impossible to find.
a lense that big for 6 x 7 format, is incredibly insane.

sigma just came out with a 200 to 500mm F2.8mm lense.
which is just incredibly insane.
a few years ago, I got to use my old friend pauls 500mm F4 lense, which had such shallow depth of field that if something wasnt more then 50 feet away, you could hardly get something in focus from nose to ear.
thinking of 500mm at F2.8 is just insane.
this lense also doubles as a 400 - 1000mm lense at F4.
1000mm at F4?
unbelievable. I couldnt even imagine....
this is gonna make one hell of a sports photographers dream come true.
F2.8 at 300-500mm range has gotta be insanely helpful for those guys.

check out canons old 50mm F0.95.
F1 is the total allowance of all available light.
somehow that lense is able to get more light then is available, and is the only lense I can recall to have a rating lower then F 1.

I know theres a few more insane lenses out there, I just cant think of any more.

The only problem with using the Sigma lens for sports is that its not very portable. If you need to move.. well you can't.

its nothing anyone whos used a 500 F4 or 600 F4 wouldnt already be familiar with.
