No, the #1736 link posted by dagooch covers what we know/suspect about getting higher multipliers as well.

This issue is clouded by ignorance of what the mobo/bios do or do not do...and there are many mobo/bios. Look, the new since Duron/Tbird 5th 8X Bit Value bit seems to be one key. Maybe some mobo/bios have only 4 traces for the original Duron/Tbird 4 bit Multilpier code. Remember that the Palomino 13X XP 2100+ had this problem, solved originally by pcstats.com with a workaround which reset to 10.5X, of which we feel the essential mod was to reset the 8X Bit Value LO...just as Xtremesystems have found with the Tbred 2200+, and as Deerhunter has confirmed the significance of the 5th bit with his single 5th L3 bridge closing experiment.

Then maybe mobo/bios have CPU ID issues, do they recognize the Tbred??? What happens if they don't?? Legacy mobo/bios Multiplier Tables??

So that's why we wrote what we did in the #1736 post. Try to reset higher than 13X with mobo/bios since that does "not" involve resetting the 5th 8X bit (for 2100+ and over), might work?? And if that doesn't work then manually mod higher...perhaps leaving the L1s open so there's no possibility of connecting to mobo/bios circuits which otherwise might cause problems. Someone should try the manual mod to higher Multipliers just to verify...Use 100Mhz FSB to be sure that only Multiplier "coding" is being tested not the oc'g of the chip itself.

PS Here are some high L3 L to R settings for Tbred 2200+, C= Closed, O= Open.

default 13.5X = O C O C O
14X = C O O C O
14.5X = O O O C O might be Reserved
15X = C C C O O

Good, go ahead and close the L1 bridges and try for Multipliers Higher than 13X, try 100Mhz FSB to eliminate the possibility of failure from too high an oc for the chip.

If it works you've done a service to the oc community, found a mobo/bios that does not need mods to oc higher than 13X.
