i have a dell 2007wfp moniter and a xbox 360. my xbox 360 also has a hdmi port. i wanted to know how i can hook up my xbox 360 to my dell 2007wfp moniter? when i think about it, it looks confusing. i was thinking that maybe i can purchase a hdmi cable and a hdmi to dvi cable and hook it up. but then what about the sound how would i get that to work? do i have to use my pc, xbox 360, and moniter to make it work or can i just use the xbox 360 and moniter? I have some nvidia geforce 8600 gt in sli and it says that it supports hdtv, i know that my xbox 360 can support 1080p but can my moniter also support 1080p? any answers would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Since 1080p output is 1920x1080, you need that many pixels to display it which your 20" can't do. You will probably run in 720p.

HDMI -> DVI would be the way to go, component input would work as well but you still need sound. Some sound cards have optical/coaxial input. What kind of sound card?

i am using my motherboard sound card only, but i also have a s/pdif in and out plug on my motherboard. i have a dfi lanparty nf4 sli-dr motherboard. so i have to use my whole computer plus my xbox 360 to get it running on my dell moniter?

VGA

HDMI MS one separates the audio and the video
unlike regular hdmi where it carries both the sound and the video
then you can use a hdmi > dvi converter

I have a 17" Samsung SyncMaster monitor with a maximum resolution of 1280x1024.

If I hooked my Xbox 360 to my monitor, I would run 640x480?
