This chip is a dud, gunna have to look for a new one. With temps like this near -30c you would think it would do 2300 stable but no go.
AIRGA week 24,

Hey OPP, have you tried an AIRDA yet? I just got the 2200+I won and it reads AIRDA 0224VPAW... I don't have my KX7 or anything yet so I can't test it right now. Btw, how do you figure out the week? Would the 0224 mean 2002 week 24?

AIRDA 0222 was the fist chip I tryed. It was a better chip, DDTUNG now has that chip.

:(
too bad. still, 2.3 ghz is NOT a dud. not in my book
is AIRGA stepping newer than AIRDA?

Sorry to see the last one was a dud also. Seems they are not scaling well right now.

That 2.3 was done from within windows on the fly, the point is I can't even get into windows at 2.3, yet:D
The first chip ran 3D at 2315Mhz compared to this one.

OPP:)

I'm not carrying great news either. Don't anybody repeat this as bible...but it appears the overclockability of my chip is diminishing...its taking more voltage to run slower. Sounds similar to the P4?? I can't even get this thing to run 2100 anymore at even 2.05v. I never ran it over 1.95v except for my 2300 run and 2v for 2200. The rest were done at 1.95v or less. This stuff is not very encouraging. I'm not blaming the 8K3A+ at this point. I'll have a KX7 this week back in my system...so we'll make a definitive judgment at that time:)

Randi :),
you said, "similar to the P4".
what did you mean?

I look forward to the comparison and I think we need to see this on different chipsets too

dmitriyaz:)

It has been reported by more than a few P4 overclockers that the ole Northy overclocks to incredible levels for a period of time , then it diminishes to not so high levels. Meaning if you are a competitor of 3Dmark etc, that CPU changes become necessary to bench at the highest CPU overclocks. Mind you...I'm talking high voltage high overclocks. It seems the .13 process CPU's may not handle alot of voltage for long..as overclocking becomes a diminishing return over the long haul.

I wonder if we are finally seeing electromigration. :(

Thats a distinct possibilty Dagooch...but as I stated before..I'm reserving my opinion on my chip until I get a KX7 installed later this week. It might just be the board I'm using now..but I'm tired of blaming boards. The best overclocks came the first few days I owned the chip. I switched to a new KX7 which had terrible voltages....and subsequent instability. The 8K3A+ runs fine but the chip now can't boot at 2100Mhz....so only time will tell.

thanks Randi :)
the hell i am buying a northwood now
hey, what exactly kind of voltages are we talking about, for these things to take effect?
- for Northwoods
- for Tbreds
thanks again.

Honest...I'm not sure about the Northy's and their voltages..but I can tell you I only had my T-Bred over 2v on a few brief occasions...the bulk of my running time has been at 1.95v or less.

i see...
also, from your experience, Palominos take 2.1 to 2.2 with no problems, right?

MrIcee

Thats correct my friend:) The AGOIA variety seem to like 2v or less for optimum overclocks.

I am finding similar deminishing results on my AIRGA week 24, even at only 1.85v. When is the 2400XP going to be out? I hope they up the stepping from AIRGA.

Well I picked up another chip today, this one is the same, AIRGA week 24. Its doing much better then the last so far. It's 3D proofed at 2212 with only 1.76 volts. Max temps -4c.
We'll see how far she goes:D
