Zipang was released on 17th January in Japan. I managed to get one yesterday to replace my Ninja Plus cooler. I'm not a pro in review and this is actually this first time I'm trying to write a small review so my method and results might be wrong.

Testbed:
Intel C2D 6320 440x7=3080Mhz BIOS 1.35V
Team Elite PC6400 DDR2 2GBx2
MSI P35 Neo2-FR rev 1.1 BIOS 1.81beta
Sapphire X1950XT 256MB
Hitachi Desktar 320GB x2
Seagate 7200.10 250MB
Audigy 2 ZS
Leadtek TV card
Scythe Kamariki II 550W PSU
Coolermaster CM 690 case

Cooler tested:
Scythe Zipang cooler with Aerocool 140mm fan
http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/cpu/035/sczp1000_detail.html
Scythe Ninja Plus Rev. A cooler with Antec Tricool 120mm fan
http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/cpu/006/scnj1000p.html

Zipang comes with 139mm fan with max 1000rpm. I decided to use my Aerocool cooler because the the Scythe 139mm seems to push very little air even at max speed.

Here are some pics of the packaging, cooler, comparison with Ninja and my rig.

In my rig

Because of the width of the cooler, and my mobo's CPU socket location, I have to remove both the top exhaust and install them outside. I'm using Artic Silver 5 for both the coolers. I decided to run the Antec fan on Ninja at 1000rpm and the Aerocool 140fan on Zipang at 800rpm. The noise level is very comparable(I prefer low noise). I removed one intake fan after installing Zipang too. The side panel intake hole on top of CPU socket are closed in this testing because I have to time to removed it. I will load the CPU with Prime small FFT for 30mins

Here are the results:
All temperature measurement are in C and fan speed in rpm.

***CPU***CORE1***CORE2***FAN***SYSTEM***NB***ROOM
Ninja Idle
***37*****33******33*****1000****38******43****20
Zipang Idle
***34*****29******29*****800*****35******40****24
Ninja Load
***56*****54******54*****1000****38******45****19
Zipang Load
***51*****48******48*****800*****35******44****23

Margin of error might be +/- 1,2C. I'm testing the coolers at different time so the room temperate difference its quite big. Noise level is quite comparable so I think the comparison is quite fair. As you guys can see, even the room temp is higher, Zipang is a few degrees cooler than my old Ninja. Furthermore, my system temp also dropped because of air being blown to the NB, PWM and DIMM area. My testing is far from perfect but I'm quite suprised with the performance. Very sorry because I didn't manage to test the coolers at higher Vcore. Please wait for pro reviews before making any decisions:)

Cool, thanks for the quick test - I made this so it's easier on your eyes.

Edit: LOL, not really easier on the eyes, bah, too lazy to resize it.

Hmm, I would make a graph out of the deltas instead.
The Zipang really outperforms the Ninja, but it is not that clear when presented like this.

At load the difference between them is 9 degrees celcius, and at idle 7 degrees celcius.

the ambient is 4C higher for the zipang so u need to keep that in mind

i wounder how this compares with the enzo

Well, my testing might be flawed because I did the test at different time. Ninja at late night and Zipang in the afternoon. Mounting wise, I think the Ninja should have the upper hand since it's using mobo backplate while Zipang is using push pins. AS5 on Ninja also have gone through burn in period while on Zipang the paste is still fresh. I changed the case fans a little bit too. I'm very sure Zipang is better than Ninja. My side panel holes on top of CPU area is currently closed so Zipang is not getting fresh air. I'm planning to make a duct soon so I think temps will go lower.

How much did you pay for the Cooler?

How much did you pay for the Cooler?

It's 4780 in Jpn. Abt $45. Slightly more expensive than Infinity. I suggest you guys wait for pro reviews before making any decisions beacause my testing was a bit flawed.

Is it safe to assume if I can fit a XP-120 on my motherboard that this should fit as well?

No need for push pins, use SCURK1

Oh, I see. Didn't know they had the mounting kit. I would like to see this compared to Enzotech and TRUE-120 :)

you cant and that is your punishment for buying that rediculous board.
you wont be mounting most of the new larger heatsink.

Review by Fudzilla. Quite surprised with the results. Andy beats it by over 5C.
