View Full Version : So IS January 19th, The Big Day??

I've heard it said the new .45's will release on january 19th, a few times, yet I have never seen any form of confirmation of this, only brief mentions here and there, that thats the big day.

I just want to know, so I know when to have my money ready.
I been itching for a new CPU for a few weeks, since I kinda got jipped outta my Q6600 and have been running some boring CPU's with limited OC potential.
(good CPU's, just had them so damn long they arent much fun to play with anymore)

man I sound like a little kid bored of his toys... :ROTF:

I'm looking for the release date too. In Holland they say 20 january, so 19th in USA is possible! :D

I hope it's the 19th... though I'll probably wait for 2-3 months after release for the first round of price-cuts.

I cant wait either, Im hoping the new .45's will drop the price of the E6750 I'm eye-balling. :) Should be a good step up from my E4300 hehe

Yes! it is possible. Most sources say the 20th, but remember it is already the 20th in Asia on the 19th in N. America So technically we should be able to buy it on Saturday? Perhaps this would explain the odd Sunday release date?? I want my E8400!

teh 8400 is only $200 thats not much when the 6850 is $300 and the 6870 is like 250, and the 8400 is 333x9

BTW What can i do best: Buy e8400 (170 euro) or buy an used Q6600 G0(when Q9450 is released, so everyone wants the Q9450) for around ~150 euro?

@little_scrapper: do you know howmuch the E6750 will cost after the E8xxx series is released? Much cheaper?

I purchased mi Q6600 only 2 months ago, so at the moment I think I will keep it... It's enogh for me right now.

But I have seen a 8400 review, reaching almost 5 Ghz on air... Incredible!!

exactly what i was thinking, when it will hit our shops in NL, it would be 170 vs 235euro`s... however the results so far shows the E8500 clocks better with lower volts, probbly some higher binned chips, but still I dont know if it worth the extra money:X is like buying a E6750 vs E6850. However I got a Q6600 , but 4.2-4.5ghz dual core with a big cache looks great

you assuming I am doing overnight shipping - I am not.

to Juneau Alaska, theres 2 fed ex options - very slow... or 2nd day air.
nothing else.
so I can either get my CPU 4 weeks from now, or 4 days from now... 2nd day air, doesnt mean anything in alaska. its still 4 days here...

to show you exactly what I mean, heres a simple comparison on shipping prices, if I was shopping for a E6600.

I am not gonna say BLT is horrible.
so far their service seems good.
just for me, its pretty crappy to get charged $45 to ship a single CPU when newegg could do it for $17 or so...
and ZZF is even cheaper (I just perfer newegg)

Ya, it is a local B&M store that seems to be coming on strong. They have locations in Calgary, Edmonton, Winnepeg and they seem to have stuff on or before release. I just happened to email them about retail availibility, and I got a response saying they had them in stock, but they were not listed on their webside.

Despite the fact newegg charges a bit more than most I very much enjoy the great service I've always had there, plus shipping is always ahead of schedule! Anyway I'll be watching a few different sites tonight, especially after midnight in hopes of ordering my own new chip (fingers crossed)!

Has anyone got experience with ZZF and if so are they any good? There is nothing worse than purchasing something, having them charge you, and then find out that their actually backorderd! Then you get to wait 7-14 days for the money to be deposited back into your account!!! Similar to what some other members said earlier!

Microcenter has just the 8400 at their stores now. At a price of $189.99. It's not on their website and is on the OEM side of their inventory search for some reason. Some new toys to play with.

[IMG]3 8400s

Damn my microcenter was sold out before I could get the baby ready for the day and head over to them. I really wish they would have limited the deal to 1 per customer so more of us could have picked one up at the amazing price. Would you be willing to sell one of the ones you picked up? Or were you planning on selling them at a higher price?

Kind of figured you would be one of the first to get ahold of them lol. I was pawing at one, but then I read there was only a 2-3% performance difference between the E8400 and my E6850.
Hmm, perhaps you could give me a hand with my T2RS. :D

Lol :)

I basically just lucked out. I sent MemX an email and they responded back (quiclky this time) and said they had them, made it easy for me :D

As far as the T2RS my door is always open

MicroCenter in Fairfax, Virginia has E8400 in stock. $189.99. I am tempted to go grab one right now for some 45nm action.

Did you pick one up? Because the fairfax store doesn't have any left!

which store? we had a situation with a guy that owns a local PC shop that put the last 8 on hold...

btw: eVGA 780i SLI at Micro Center = $279.99! better than newegg...

NCIX has a few in stock now. NCIXUS.com has them for $188 I do believe, yet for some reason they are selling them to Canadians for $224 :(

Even at that price I still ordered one.

Well been watching newegg all day (on and off) with no luck, not even a hint that the new chips will be available soon? Of course as posted ZZF has the E8400 in stock which is great but I don't particulary want that chip! Was today the 20th only the release date for both E8500's and E8400 chips (what about the QX9xxx series that havn't been available yet)? Those chips were were listed on the Intel 20th release but havn't found any yet? With that said does anyone have any updates on what the actual release date is for USA? Thanks guys....

do DFI Blood Iron P35's support .5 multiplier? Because if it doesn't then there's no point of me paying a $100 more for an E8500 when I can't use the x.5 when I can get an E8400

That is just what I meant, thanks for your reply, much apprecaited! Out of the big online retailers that seems to be one of the only stores to still have it available (newegg, tigerdirect, ect...). I know from reading this thread and others that a few other retailers have the chips in stock but like I said above I'm hesitant to purchase anything from these little online stores for fear of major problems/headaches and the like?

On a separate note guys there is a microcenter in Boston MA (about an hour from where I live) but I can't seem to even find the E8400/E8500 at microcenter online? I have already checked out the link some people have posted but I can't seem to find it at their actual website, any help with this would be greatly apprecaited!

I'd probably just give them a call if anything. I tried looking online myself to no avail. Called the local Micro Center and they told me they weren't in stock.

NCIX was my selection. Yay!

quite funny how NCIXUS had them for $188, yet while their canadian selection was $224. Yet our dollars are almost exactly the same. :shakes:

One store (of the twenty or so I searched) is listing shipping for E8500 as Jan 23rd. I first blew this off, but then read on another forum from someone that mentioned "the web pricing thing" starts on 23rd. Who knows if either is reliable though.

Still dont see E8400 on larger sites like newegg, and E8500 is nowhere. Is 23rd going to be the major release day, or is this going to be a long soft release?

Update Guys,
Just bought my new retail E8400 from Newegg.com! Not sure how many they have in stock because there is a "one per customer" limit but I bet they have a few in stock still as it just barely became available! Unfortunelty the price isn't great at $224 but since there is no stores in the northeast I don't mind paying a bit extra for it!

depends on the game really.

some games use more cores, some dont.
newer games coming out, will begin using more cores.
some games just dont get much benifit from CPU's at all, relying almost entirely on things like the videocard only.
theres no clear answer for that.

however, if your in that boat, you might wanna wait for the Q9450 or Q9450.
atleast they would be .45nm and have a chance at running cooler.

True, but dont the new quads have a lower multi, so it would be hard to get high speeds with them, enless its the Extreme edition, or the more expensive model......i dont want a 7.5 multi.......getting 5500fsb from a quad is not too easy.

Crap, sorry for not posting a linky Kunaak I must have forgotten in the excitement, lol! As far as what processor is better for gaming, that is a question I struggled with as well. Obviously I'm no expert but I still think most games are not capable of utilizing all 4 cores yet. Unless I'm greatly mistaken there are still games that don't even take advantage of dual core processors yet (although the list of games seems to be growing quickly)? In anycase I justified getting this processor by saying it will just hold me over until the newer quads are released (specifically the QX9550)!

Guys the Quads being released shortly (hopefully end of jan. beginning of Feb) will be Q9550-2.83Ghz

ZZF isn't bad. They use to be better with Free Fedex Ground / $2 2 Day shipping. But now I think those days are over.

They beat the egg on price sometimes, but dont ship nearly as fast.
