Ok, my question is obviously: is it worth it?
what are people squeezing out of these cards before and after vmod?
I had 7800Gt before and it did 7+k in 3dmark 05. after voltmod i was able to get 10k in 05. thats very acceptable!
i am going to buy a waterblock (probably the zalman block) and vmod my card if i think it will be worth it.

Edit: i havent really tried to clock my card yet.. but ofcourse i will before and after (if i vmod it )

IMO,
I really don't think it's worth it unless you already are cooling with a aftermarket cooler/water block. It drives the temps up ALOT. Also, the a3's over clock alot better than the A2 revisions, if you have a A2, i would forget about it.
It takes alot of skill to do this mod especially as the resistors you are soldering are extremely small. Not only that, you will be lucky to see a 100 mhz increase, at the best. My A2 8800gts ssc, was only able to get to 650 [Bafter[/B] i vmodded the core, so ymmv. In the end, it would be better to invest your money in a variant of the g92 either a 8800gt, or the new 88gts, if you really want to see some overclocking potential.

before modding (vgpu, vmem, ocp) i got 648 core, 1566 shader & 1000 (2000) mem. after mods i got 684/1728/2214

best scores were:
54000+ in 01
40000+ in 03
19000+ in 05
12000+ in 06

with system i used to own in sig. its fun and its not really hard to do the mods so go for it if you feel up to it

stock mine ran like 665/1600/1050. after a little vmem pencil mod and vgpu mod i was stable at 741/1700/2244. i say its totaly worth it as i had a decent gain i think. was runnin 1.4v vgpu and 2.07v vmem. but big improvement with the volt modded gt i have now but the 8800gts 320mb i had was a good card and had no problems at all. volt mod it i say:up:. i scored 14k in 06 and 21xxx in 05 with the rig in my sig as it says but with the gts 320.
