is a MCR220 enough for a QX9650, ill be cooling only the cpu, with SM yates and a EK Supreme waterblock all powered by a MCP655 pump. would it be enough?

Supposedly they put out less heat, might be ok considering the overclock and voltage. Mild overclock, I think it would be ok as long as the Yates stay at full speed.

Look at what I run on my MCR220. I am sure it would handle your CPU just fine, considering that the new 45nm CPU's have a lower TDP.

Looks like you have a winning combination there for your cooling. Best of luck with your system...

i also have an Apogee GT laying around somewhere, and im yet to buy a new block, is the DTek or the EK worth 70 dollars over the Apogee GT?

For a quad, definitely the D-Tek or EK. The Apogee GT just doesn't cut it anymore.

Hi, I use an Apogee GT with a Quad and it's fine. So the question would be "how much more cooling" will you get by upgrading or is the $70 better spent somewhere else in the system.

I would love to see some comparisons that state it's so much better. It's just the new kid on the block but what real world temp gain/loss can be expected by not using the Apogee GT and paying 70 to get a D-Tek or EK. Figuring if you have a good watercooling setup, your temps should be pretty stable and go up a bit under overclocking but still be in great ranges. so would it be 5 degrees Celsius difference? and if your stressed cpu is operating around the 40's, so now it will be 45, is that worth the 70 dollars.

that is the question of the day. :weapon:

From everything i have read, probably about 15 articles in the last day, the difference is about 3 degrees.... but that is only Apogee GT vs D-Tek Fusion
So that is what I are talking about here..

But you need to make the choices for your self, you will hear, "This is Xtreme Systems" so any degrees matter but i also have to say, $70 that's a better pump, a new radiator or just a good weekend at the bar.... Hoped i helped with my 2c... :2cents:

I am looking at the EK block to see if their results are difference, but I do like those guys and find their blocks way cool!

But i still use Swiftech and DangerDen for most of my setup's...
