View Full Version : is 1 RAD enough for this loop?

My loop consists of:

MCP655==>MCR320==>D-TEK FuZion atop INTEL E6850==>DANGER DEN full blocks (SLI) atop 8800GTS 640MB==>RES==>...

I've calculated this loop could generate bet 295-320W with 1 pump and 2 pumps in series respectively. Flow rate I calculated was bet 1-1.5 GPM at setting 5 for 1 and 2 pumps respectively.

Will a single MCR320 w/ 3 X YAT LOON D12SM120 be sufficient to cool this rig? I would prefer to keep my tubing as short as possible in a TJ07, but do have a second MCR220 if needed. Also in opinion, could I get by w/ just 1 pump instead of 2 in series? The SWIFTECH site claims a single MCR320 will dissipate between 400 and 425W at bet 1-1.5 GPM respectively. My ambient temp stays bet 70-72F (20-22C)

I would two loops in this setup as the mcr320 rad is not going to dispute the heat too well on this if you overclock!

I do not plan on overclocking, but with one loop and 1 pump coolant flow would be 1GPM vs 2 pumps at 1.5 GPM

I cant remember... is there really a reason to watercool if you're not going to OC?

silence? cooler look?

Trying to keep things simple, how about a second MCR120 or MCR220 in the single loop with a single MCP655?

add a mrc220

get a thermochill rad? the PA120.3 would cool it with YL medium

Sure if you have 8800GT's and for the coolness +geek factor!

Probably going to be a little warm for the MCR320, either throw another radiator in series or split out the GPUs in their own loop, or strap on some noisy 105cfm panaflos...:D

Hey Martinm thanks for responding. I'm still wanting the 1 RAD, so I'm considering the 4 fan BI GTX480. I still have 3 YATES SM120's needing a 4th, but I have no idea on flow, or need for more than 1 pump.

BTW, do you sell those copper parts shown on CYBERDRUIDS TJ07 mod?

2 pumps runing in series will shortend thier lives. for the added RPM/load

uhhhhh.... you sure about this? I heard the oposite unless the two pumps are different make and head pressure.

well the question is if I need 2 pumps in series to maintain adequate flow rate and pressure with that kind of setup; also would that second pumps "res" be the inflow from the loop? And will the GTX 480 be enough with proper fans?
E6850 w/ FuZion
GTS 8800 640mB SLI w/ DD full cover blocks
NB will be passively cooled
