Okay i'm considering moving over to water cooling after years on high end air. After doing some research this is what i'm planning on buying:

Swiftech MCP355™ 12 VDC Pump (alphacool top coming later) -

Black Ice® GT Stealth 240 XFlow Highest Performance Radiator -

Alphacool Cape Coolplex Pro 10 External

2x Yate Loon 120mm Medium Speed Silent Case Fan - D12SM-12 - Sleeved

going to be using 1/2 inch tubing and a D-tek Fuzion Waterblock...

its going to be cooling an e8400 and a 8800gtx (later on, initially just the CPU)...

now I have a range of questions:

any problem with my choice of components?

is water going to be substantially better than air (thermalright ultra 120 extreme), just forget about noise, just plain performance.

will i need hose clamps for the connectors - http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=298&products_id=3803

if all the cabling and tubing is secure transporting the case around should be pretty safe, just lie it on its side and drive slowly (i have a flat bed in my car), turn it right side up and just run the pump on its own for a bit to remove any bubbles. right?

Pump is okay, but if you want 1/2" fittings, you need the top now. Stock DDC is 3/8" non-removable barbs. Radiator... I'd reccomending going 120 x 3 if you could, and at the least MCR-320, PA120.3 would be the best. At least go w/ the MCR-220 over the GT 240. Only other reccomendation is 5/8" tubing vs 1/2", just one less thing to worry about.

I personally dont use hose clamps, but I'd reccomend the steel worm-drive clamps over anything else. Basically with those, the only leak you'd have is from a barb backing out.

Edit: Water will be much better than air provided you get the proper components and don't overload your Rad. Better to spend the money for the good stuff up front then regret it and have to tear your loop apart later. I have 2 BIP's and 3 Res's gathering dust due to this.

water properly setuped would beat air cooling... better cooling and less noise too...

components:
*yes the mcr 320 rad could give you better temps coupled with those yates...
*DTek fuzion with nozzles and washer plus lapped cpu ihs FTW...
*same comment with 1/2 tubing and ddc pump, you need the alphacool top now, not later...
*if all parts are internal and secure, then no problem with transportation.
but you have external rad, so just make sure this is also secure and don't hit this with anything.
* i would even buckle up your rig just to be sure, hehehe, and put some sort of padding on your reservior...
