256 GB memory, 4000 watts of power and uses the buildings AC system to keep the coolant at ambient. Great for folding! :ROTF:

Whow!

is it really a 32 core CPU? or just an array of CPUs?

i think it is array of 16 CPUs, each 4 cores

i read awhile back intel made a 128core cpu :)

we do high math processing here at work and we have used 32 cores before and a total of about 64GB of ram to get the job done.

but that is multiple systems being farmed...

my IT joked that we shoudl get a quote on this!!! actually something we coudl use in a few years.

Wow, 256gb of memory?????
That's just nuts.....

If it offered twenty 8800gtx Ultras in SLI mode...i would buy one.

HAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Me two man!
But.... what game would you play? I mean, no game needs more than 3 ultras...

4000W of power is a bit extreme. You'd probably need a new hard rail direct from the electric company for that.

ANP !!!

crysis @ 2560 x 1600 max settings... i don't think even 4 ultra's could manage that ;p lol

i think it is array of 16 CPUs, each 4 cores

i think you mean 8 cpus at 4 cores each

LOL. Kind of let's us know where we are in the scheme of things.
That Power 6 complex blows more air out of the top than you can imagine.
Actually it is all air cooled, you need to go to System z to get water cooling.

Then we are talking chillers and such outside of the building.
They've been doing chillers for years on 360 and above. Well before it gained popularity for PC's. If memory serves, 1975 or thereabouts.

From IBM's website:

IBM plans to offer the System p 575 with:

4.7 GHz dual-core IBM POWER6 processors in a 32-core configuration

So it's 16 dual-core processors.

To increase the rack density of the p575 supercomputing node, the microprocessors are planned to be cooled with an innovative modular water cooling design and distribution system. Included in the system side water cooling loop is an integrated rear door heat exchanger that is planned to significantly reduce the heat load to air from the system.

This one is water cooled, although it does also have supplemental air cooling for the chipsets.

It really helps to actually read the links the OP posted instead of making assumptions, they have all the information. ;)
