One of the secretaries husbands @ work needs a liver transplant & the same insurance company said the same crap to him. I used to have then also & what a PITA they are. Took a year to clear up all the bills for whn my son was born.

As long as you can fork the copay, there is no such thing as NO. Well maternity is excluded from everything except work medical insurence...

You sometimes have to read the fine print in your health insurance contract because many insurance companies limit coverage for organ transplants by forcing you to have the procedures done with providers of their choosing. When you choose your own doctor and hospital, they will often limit the amount of coverage. Transplants are fairly expensive procedures. So even though you think the insurer will cover most of the cost, that may not be the case. Always pays to read the fine print.;)

In this particular case, the debate seems to be over whether the procedure was covered at all under the terms of the contract. The insurer claimed it was experimental and not covered. They then changed their mind. In any event, it's always tragic when someone dies while waiting for an organ transplant.
